Individually, there may be potential candidates who are afraid to run because of safety concerns, however, I do not believe that is the primary reason we have not had a black president yet.

Who knows. I think so. I just don't understand why someone would attempt to assasinate an African-American candidate for President, What if that candidate is the one to bring out the best of our country?

We have already had a black president. Bill Clinton. He cheated on his wife, plays the saxophone--on the Arsenio Hall show, loves fried food, was raised by a single mom, works in Harlem and has a weight problem, or at least had one until the heart attack.

Yes... I'm waiting for that moment... If USA is not ready for an African- American President, then maybe we are ready for a female President instead....

No that's a silly reason. The reason is because not many candidates have run on a major ticket.
I've got a "Condee for President" sticker on my car. She gets my vote IF she runs. No-Run, No-President!

If I was black I dont think I would want to put my family through that. That's why I think Powell did not run.
But, I things are getting better, people like L. Douglas Wilder proved that. The time will come.

Sure, but some like Clinton have taken on an honorary title of first black president to garner more votes.

I think anyone who is the President would be concerned about being assassinated. There have been several presidents who have been assassinated not one of them has been black. So that is no excuse.

All Presidential candidates Run the danger of being assassinated, I do not believe it would matter about their skin color. It matters on their political stands.
