Save something, anything...even $10 or $20, just get started now. Keep building the savings, then when you have $500 or so, which you WILL eventually, put it in a CD or Money Market acct. and you will start to earn interest. But start now saving whatever you can. Don't put it off. Good luck!

Go to upromise.com it is a website that will help save for college funding. Another way is to buy savings bonds through the government. You buy them at half the price, and within a few years they mature to the amount that they are worth.
Believe me, I have two in college. It is very hard to come up with money at a later date. Even if you can only put $20 per month away. It is worth the time. $25/month will get you a $50 bond.
Good luck, and you are on the right track thinking about your children's future.

The best education is free. It is called Life Experience. Some of the most successful people in the world never had a college degree and a few of them never even had a high school diploma.
Teach your childern the the value of imagination and enterprise, make them self-sufficient by giving them nothing but love and a place to live and food on the table. Give them the idea that if they want something they will have to earn it. They will do just fine and you will never have to worry.

Budget, Budget, Budget!
here are some steps
1. Keep a record of exerything you spend money on for a month. I would recomend using a spreadsheet to keep up with this if you have a computer.
2. Determine the bare nescisities for living for you, and set a budget.
3. Eliminate all useless spending, and save what you would have wasted.
4. Deposit your savings in long term CDs and Banknotes
5. When your CD's mature, cash them and start all over

My Brother and I saved enough money to buy a male and female Mastiff and mated them. The purebred litter brought $700.00 a piece (5 puppies). We were then able to interact with other breeders so the line would not get weakened.
You take it from there. I don't need another competitor!
GOOD LUCK!

If you're REALLY concerned about your childrens well-being, then I'm CERTAIN you can save money...
I'll bet if you look hard, you can probably find all kinds of extra money...
How much do you spend for internet access each month?
Do you buy name brand products at the grocery store?
Look around, save some money and give your children a future...
Good Luck!

There are programs through credit cards that will take a few cents off each transaction you make and put it into savings. You won't even notice the money is going! Ask your credit card company, or google it.
