Of course not! . . . . Few exceptions might exist though!

i myself have extreme depression and my boyfriend and i have been together for almost 2 years and he helps me a lot. so from my point of view no it is not harmful. yes, your boyfriend/girlfriend (whom ever with depression) will have their bad days but everyone has bad days whether they are depressed or not. Being with my boyfriend for as long as i have has made life easier for me. Yes, i know i still have depression that's why i take meds but he has helped me through those bad days and i have asked him if my depression was a burden and he said no. A person with depression is still a person period. Just because they have to take medicine to even out the chemicals in their brain doesn't make them any different.

I don't think it's really harmful, but the non depressed person has to be careful not to get sucked into their web of depression as well. Negativeity attracts negativity and positivity attracts positivity. If you're around someone for so long who is always depressed, then it will no doubt start to affect your mood as well.

I think if the person is depressed they would be better suited to have a close friendship than a romantic relationship at this point.

Why would it be harmful for someone who is depressed? Spending time with someone who cares about you is not depressing. But if the relationship goes south, that would be depressing.

I have been depressed my whole life. And I am happily married for 11 years. If I didnt have my wife I dont know what I would do. Depression hurts everyone around but with good support it is controlable. If you could maybe recommend counseling and just be there for him.

Id say its good and bad for the depressed person. Good for obvious reasons, bad because theyll probably feel guilty for being depressed and they probably have poor self esteem which can be exacerbated simply by being in a relationship and thinking you have to be 'good enough' to keep the person.

Not harmful. As long as the other person is extra loving. That's what they need most right now, love and support.

Yes, misery loves company. An unhappy person can never contribute to a happy relationship.

I actual have in straightforward words had one significant breakup (fortuitously) inspite of the easy incontrovertible actuality that it grew to develop into truly undesirable... We were friends from elderly 11 or so, and we finally were given at the same time elderly 13. I suffered from manic melancholy contained in the technique limitless my teen years, so I went somewhat off of the rails, and grew to develop into eating plenty, (finished bottles of Vodka in accordance to hour) and taking limitless diverse drugs. (truly plenty each and every ingredient from 13-17 is a complete blur, except at the same time as i grew to develop into below the outcome of alcohol or intense. It through some ability gave me clarity.) besides, after 4 years at the same time, I were given dumped through SMS, on my 17th birthday, with the message, "Now that your meds are operating and also you're literally not any extra psycho anymore, you're literally not any extra truly as plenty relaxing. i do not imagine we'd want to pick to always carry out as plenty anymore... i am going to furnish you with a range sometime." I not in any appreciate heard shrink lower back, yet apparently I did some ingredient detrimental, and all of our mutual friends (and faculty friends) sided unfavorable to me, and that i have not truly heard from any of them because (5 years later). So yeah, that grew to develop into truly undesirable. even if ask your self why topics got here about like they did, and no count number if there grew to develop into yet one extra reason behind it... Oh nicely, 4 years with my spectacular boyfriend now, and that i might want to not be happier.
