You mean like writing "u" instead of "you," or "r" instead of "are"? That's the way AIMtards write because they have forgotten how to spell and use decent grammar, or even capitalization, when they are trying to communicate any thought more complex than, "omgz u r so kewl!!!1!"
When you see "God" written as "G_d," it will probably be a Jewish person who has been taught that it is wrong to write God's name in full. Why they believe this, I do not know. If God were offended at seeing his name in print, you would think he would have zapped everyone on the planet dead by now.

Au contrare, Lois_the_Apostate. For those of us who can remember back to the early days of computing, when memory was measured in kilobytes, we learned to conserve as much memory as possible. So our writings tended to be couched in acronyms and other forms of linguistic shorthand. Other computer users quickly emulated this form of electronic communications and the world was a happy place.
But as with most evolutionary processes, changes took place and computers became more memory intensive with hard disks being measured in megabytes and then gigabytes. (Soon we will see personal computers with terrabyte hard drives.) This meant many of us could write that GAN (Great American Novel) and have the storage space to save it safely and securely; sometimes on the hard drive, but more frequently on an external device such as a floppy or CD. As the years went by, computer technology advanced by leaps and bounds..... one might even say it progressed logarithmically compared to other venues within the iconoclastic structure of societal norms and mores.
But throughout this evolutionary (and some might even say, revolutionary) cultural change, one thing remained constant:
ppl still used shrthnd to rspnd to emails & other comptr gen writings. so get a life and get down off ur hi horse :-)
P.S.:
The use of shorthand does not mean a person is stupid, uneducated or lazy. On the contrary, it usually means the writer has a strong grasp of the nuances of the language so he or she feels comfortable with the use of abbreviations.
As an aside, one might erroneously conclude from your answer, Lois_the_Apostate, that you are judgemental, condesending and of the opinion that you are better than anyone who uses abbreviations. I'm sure that would be an egregious and faulty characterization of who you really are. So my final question to you, Ma'am, is why do you feel it's necessary to denigrate those who differ from yourself? Doesn't the Bible teach love and tolerance? Or am I thinking of some other book?
