If she really is only 6 years old and adores the president that is great. So i would guess she is pretty into politics. I would suggest taking her to Mt. Vernon. It is sooo fun there. And just the fact of know that that is where George Washington lived was amazing. I think a 6 year old would have alot of fun there. I wouldn't suggest the Holocuste Museum, depending on who you are it is either depressing or boring. It is not the place to go if you are looking for a fun trip. The capital building can be boring for some people, but I really like politics and stuff so I had a lot of fun there. The National Archieves is also great. You should deffinitly take her there. She will have so much to tell her friends at school when she gets back and I think she will have a great time!!!!

The only way to get a tour of the White House is...."Public tours of the White House are available for groups of 10 or more people. Requests must be submitted through one's Member of Congress and are accepted up to six months in advance".

However there are many tours around the House that are cool.

And the White House Visitors Center is open -
"All tours are significantly enhanced if visitors stop by the White House Visitor Center located at the southeast corner of 15th and E Streets, before or after their tour. The Center is open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and features many aspects of the White House, including its architecture, furnishings, first families, social events, and relations with the press and world leaders, as well as a thirty-minute video. Allow between 20 minutes to one hour to explore the exhibits. The White House Historical Association also sponsors a sales area. Please note that restrooms are available, but food service is not."

Weather is hot90's/humid80-90%/rainy. Check weather.com before traveling...they give a 10 day forecast that can help you plain ahead.

I work at the Department of Veterans Affairs, which is right across the street from the White House and I have not seen the president once. I don't believe you will see him while you are here, unfortunately, or the chances are very unlikely. While you are in town, please check out the Lincoln Memorial and The Mall. The weather has been hot some days and cold the next. Check a 10-day forecast to see what the weather will be like while you are here. Best of luck.

I hope you have already made arrangements for your White House tour? You need to do that way in advance generally with your Congressman. We did get a small glimpse of the president during a tour this spring, through a window in the White House when he was boarding Air Force One. We did get a full view of Barney and Mrs Beasley, however, when they were brought into the garden to go poddy! There is usually a person who has a cardboard cutout of the president on the left side of the front of the White House that you can stand next to for photos! That's probably as close as you will get to GW!
make sure you visit the White House visitor center, also.

It is next to impossible to see the president (any president) w/o large sums of money being involved, like a fundraising event. Your local representative will have tickets for a White House tour and THEY might be able to pull some strings to help you see W. Does the child have a malady of any kind? Preferably one W can pronounce. That might get you in~ Just kidding, but do check with your congressman or senator.

You probably won't be able to see the President. It's pretty windy up there though. You might be able to get a tour of the white house if you talk with your local senator or representive.
