I live in California...known for earthquakes. To be ready for a large quake have enough bottled water for at least 3 days in case the water pipes break. Get some dried food (camping food) that you can eat without heating if nesseccary or use a camp stove to heat. A GREAT place to get them is an Army surplus store. Most carry modern MREs (Meals, Ready to Eat). They are good for years if stored properly and are a very filling meal. Have a wrench on hand to shut off the gas just in case there is a break in a gas line.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Figure out ahead of time where in your home or workplace is a strong and secure shelter in case of earthquake, like a heavy desk or something you can get under to avoid having things fall on you. Have a kit somewhere, in your home and/or in the trunk of your car that includes at least a first aid kit, a water supply, a flashlight, etc. If you are extra nervous you might want to have a supply of food that doesn't need cooking as well.

Having lived in the S.F. Bay Area and having been caught in the last big-one Oct 17 1999, Keep this in mind. Know where you are at all time in relation to exits and Supports. If at home, have spare water and food at all times and rotate stock every 3 months. This is not as hard as it seems. Do not leave your car during a Quake, as falling debris can strike you, but your car will help in case.
