I'm no doctor, but for me, getting up, recording or researching my thoughts, then going back to bed seems to help. I still lose sleep, but its better than tossing and turning all night. when it gets bad early in the evening, taking a Benadryl seems to knock me out for 6 or 7 hours.

It sound as if you are stuck in some new habits which are the result of being under a good deal of stress. Try some new routines. Exercise at a different time or location. Take a warm shower or bath to relax. Avoid any caffeinated beverages after dinner. Do not get into bed until you are truly tired. Try reading some books you've been meaning to get to. Once you conquer the sleep problem, you will be thinking more clearly and worrying less.

It's normal to have worries about a new business but now it may affect your overall health. You can try changing your sleeping ritual. This may be difficult but try to go to bed the same time every night, Eat a meal high in tryptophan found in tuna or turkey at supper. Read a book unrelated to your business. Have sex if possible. You can also try over the counter sleeping aids that are not habit forming that contain diphenhydramine. If this doesn't work, you may resort to seeing your doctor and getting an anti-anxiety medication for short term use such as ativan or xanax or he may give you a prescription for short term use of a sleeping aid such as Lunesta, Dalmane, or Restoril. You will be more productive and your health will improve with the appropriate amount of sleep. Good luck and I hope you succeed in your business as well as your need for sleep.

Well, it is perfectly normal for one who has just started their own business. You are going to think and think and think. You may come up with something totally on the genious level that will set you apart from the rest of the crowd.
You might try a natural sleep aid or ask your doctor for Somas or something like that. You have to be bright eyed and bushy tailed now. Good luck on your new business.

The first thing is to keep a notepad by your bed, write down all of your thoughts so you don't stay up being afraid you'll forget something the next day.
Reading works for me. Puts me right to sleep.
Also, another method that has worked for me when my thoughts keep racing is to build a mental brick wall in your head. I know it sounds silly, but I do it and it works. I'll feel a thought trying to come to mind and I shut it out. Build the "wall" one brick at a time. Another thing to relax is to imagine that your body is filling up with warm paint. Again, I know it sounds silly, but it works. Start from your toes and slowly work your way up. You know how paint slowly pours into a pan? Imagine that is happening to your body, and feel the warmth as it moves up. I heard of this a number of years ago and it really does work for me.
Good luck to you! Insomnia sucks.

Write down all your thoughts on a piece of paper and try to work on one a day.
Good luck and have a good night sleep

I know what you mean. I tried something and it seems to help me get to sleep and my worries are somewhere else - I imagine that there is a box and I put all my worries into it. Then I close that box and say God (and it doesn't have to be a Christian God just God) please take this from me and then I close my eyes and go to sleep. But then i am a mom to 3 girls and they are very active so I can usually go to sleep, but this helps me to sleep. It is a way to give it to God.

Is it worth it? Quality of life has no monetary value. If it is, then maybe try a benedryl and focus on one thing that relaxes you the most and keep cycling that thought. I'm no doctor, but that's helped me.
