my friend Heidi is white and I am black, and we were joking about her going to a black college, and we thought about it, and don't they have scholarships for white minorities in black colleges? I mean once they go to those colleges, they become minorities, and I dont know the reason but she is scared of goign, she thinks people are going to be mean to her. how do I convince her that black people are good?

oh yes! If she were to attend a black college, she'd probably get a free ride as a minority student. Other than that, I'm not certain what historically black colleges have to offer people, white or black, that a non-historically black college cannot.

There are scholaships for minorities at a HBCU's.... I went to a HBCU in TN and there were a few white kids from what i know they were really welcomed into the family as individuals...it really depends on her comfort level.
And as for ghost1980 the purpose of HBCU's were to provode education for African Americans during the times where African Americans had to fear for there lives in order to get an education...there are ALL white colleges and blacks were able to attend as time went on....please reveiw your facts

I know a white chick who graduated from Southern so what? One thing I don't understand how come there are black colleges and not white colleges?

I don't know where you are located, but I attended a PWI for undergrad and a HBCU for law school. I've heard both blacks and whites complaining.I hate to say this, but I advise the both of you to attend something other than a HBCU unless its Hampton, Howard, or Spelman.

please don't lie to your friend you know for an absolute certainty that she will be ridicudled at that college, let me ask you this, why can there be no all white colleges? and i'm all for black colleges i think its a great thing, but if there was an all white college all the blacks would be up in arms, and complaining, but please once again don't lie to your friend, you know better
