Catholics pray to the virgin Mary and other saints to get to GOD.
This is idolatry, covered in the 1st commandment "Thou shall have no other gods before ME". 2nd commandment " Thou shall not make or bow down to any graven image".
Some people call themselves christians and believe in the concept of the Trinity, FATHER, SON & HOLY GHOST, but have not been born again, which acheived by asking JESUS to come into your heart and repenting of your sins.
In the Bible, when JESUS was walking and talking with Nicodemus, HE told Nicodemus that, unless a man be born again, that man cannot inherit the kingdom of GOD.
It's a very easy thing to do, you can do it now, by accepting JESUS as your LORD & SAVIOR, and asking HIM to come into your heart and forgive you of all your sins, then you need to forgive others whom have offended you of their sins. That's it, you're born again, and will inherit the kingdom of GOD (Heaven).
May GOD Bless you

There are two primary divisions in Christianity, Unitarians and Trinitarians.

Unitarians do not believe Jesus was God.

Trinitarians believe Jesus was God. Trinitarian doctrine was invented by Roman Emperor Constantine in 325 CE (ad) and is not biblical. The bible was forged by unknown persons to support that idea.

Trinitarians are divided into Catholics & Protestants.

You are incorrect. The Catholic church invented the idea that Jesus is God. That is the foundation for the "Trinity." It was formalized by the "Nicene Creed" adopted by the Nicene Council in 325 CE (ad).

There are literally tens of thousands of Christian cults, most of which are Trinitarians, it is not possible to define the differences between all those cults.

Catholics tend to believe in a salvation through works. If you do all these things, plus what's in the bible, then you will go to heaven.
"Regular" christians believe that Jesus is the only way since that is what he said.
I'm not bashing catholics... like you said. We do believe in the same God. Some of the other stuff gets jumbled, though.

Catholic- Popes, No marriage for the ordained, dont believe old test is 2 be followed,. 7 sacrements.

All of the just need to re assess and bring the old test. back!

Christian: Someone who claims to follow Christ.
Catholic: Someone who believes the sacraments
will get them into heaven,
Born again Christian: someone who repents (turns away) of his sin and asks Jesus to for give
him. If he is true in his faith he is made a new creature in Christ and born again, We can not
be good enough to earn our way to salvation.
Eph.2:8-9 By Grace you are saved through faith\
it is a gift of God not of Works lest any man should boast,

i'm certainly no expert on religion...but one of the basic differences i can see is that a christian/born-again christian has more of a direct relationship w/ god where they ask for forgiveness one-on-one thru prayer...a catholic, on the other hand, will go to confessionals where they have to admit their transgressions thru another live person.

but to me, it's all the same god. christianity actually branched off FROM catholicism back in the day, so there are lots of similarities.

True, it's the same God, but it's like going to a resturant...we all like to eat, we all need to eat, so we go to the place we like to go to best eat. It's the same way with denominations...they are'nt right or wrong (unless they don't worship the one true God)
it's just that people go to worship where they are comfortable and can study and learn at their own pace. J T has about the best explanations of the differences.
