If YOU enlisted in the army, MY chances of dieing would not REALLY change.

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings...honestly though, the chance of dieing is not greater then driving down the highway. In fact, according to statistics Iraq is safer then New Orleans OR Washington DC. Good luck.

Not significantly higher than not enlisting in the army, and possibly lower. First, only a small percentage who enlist are sent into a combat zone. Those that are not sent to combat zones probably have less chance of dying than the average person. In the Army, you are more physically fit, you eat three regular and healthful meals, you have medical care, training for most jobs is exceptional and safety oriented, and you are not in a job that has a high death rate (convenience store clerks are among the professions most likely to kill you).

If you do go to a combat zone, most are still not in active hot zones. Including the "Hot" ground war before we took Bahgdad, less than three in 10,000 have been killed or wounded in Iraq/Aphganistan, and that included soldiers killed in car wrecks, suicide, or murdered by fellow soldiers (remember the soldier who tossed a grenade into a tent?). Many large cities have murder rates and/or automobile accident rates higher than that.

In the regular Army not very high. The Army has a lot of specialists that do technical jobs. There is the infantry, but most of the serious fighting is done by the Marines and Special Forces.

What a cowardly question, wish you at the instant are not thinking transforming into a member of. you're very not likely to be killed in Afghan (maximum deadly theatre we are in), as a commerce pastime. E.g. REME, RLC, Engineer, Int Corp, Medic or some thing similar, very low danger off being hit. Infantry and specialist forces, Para or Marines are more beneficial because that they are despatched in first into deep enemy grounds. although even if lack of existence is low, existence replacing harm continues to be a large component. anybody is heavily injured dropping distinctive limes and braking backs, yet proceed to be alive heavily disabled. some human beings may opt to die and develop right into a statistic than stay with such injuries.

I don't know, chances are anything with anything I guess. I am former Marine and Army, I've been to the desert, and yeah there is danger everywhere, you decrease odds by not being in a combat zone, but you can drive to the store and get hit by a drunk driver out of the clear blue sky. I guess if you are a religious person you have to think in terms of if God wants to take you and its your time then you go. I don't know really. Who does???

It depends on your choice of career within the army and which army. If you are in the infantry, your chances are much greater than if you are in a support role or in a specialist job such as a military attorney. If you are in an army in war or facing terrorists your chances are much greater of dying.

The statistics of dying are-one in one person is going to die, in the army or not. You can die just going to the corner store, but by placing yourself in situations where there is a greater possibility of death ,the chances increase; that would be like me walking into a klan meeting-in doing so, I have just increased my chances of dying, even though, I might not. There is no ratio however, in determining the likelihood of death--so, I guess, in all of life, if there was a ratio, it would have to be 50-50.

my husbands been in the Military for 17 years and isnt dead.

why dont you ask a WWII veteran what his chances were. apparently hes not dead...

OR a korean war vet. or a vietnam vet. or how about asking my husband, who was in the gulf war, desert storn?

when you join the Military, you dont leave dying for your Country to chance, you proudly STAND UP AND OFFER your life to protect your country. how do you think you get to do what you want to these days? its because of the fallen soldiers of past and present wars.

you cant put statistics of someones life. especially when they are fighting to keep yours a free one.

if your thinking of joining, reconsider, please. you arent ready to make that kin of sacrifice yet.
