My husband and I are getting a pitbull puppy tomorrow and we need help naming her. She is light brown and white. We would like a tough name. Something stong sounding. Any ideas???

Gotti was a pit that came into my work a lot ..until it passed away from cancer :*( and i thought that was kind of a neat name. Though i think Gotti may have been a boy.. but honestly i think the name could go either way! And also, having a tough name for a pit is fine, but please don't get the ears cropped off.. the pit puppies that come in at the vet hospital i work at always look so sad and shake their heads like they are in constant pain after they've gotten their ears cropped. It is an unneccessary, painful and expensive surgery.

Maybe look at a baby name book, or online for names.
Here are some strong female names, though not all very pretty:

Helga
Madison
Rosie (as in O'Donnell... hahaha.)
I can't think of any more names, but I would get to know the dog's personality a little before naming her. Just because she's a pit bull, doesn't mean she needs to have a tough name. One of the most gentle dogs I know is a pit bull.

I have a pit mix that we rescued from the local Humane Society. We also wanted a strong but feminine name and came up with Juniper. For the month we rescued her in and for the juniper bush, my spouse is a landscaper. I also have a friend who rescued his female boxer on a Monday and named her Monday. I think that name is great. Tuesday, Friday they work too! Even city names can be great pet names. Pick somewhere you two have been on vacation like Vegas or Hollywood. That way the name is strong, familiar and reminds the two of you of something you've shared like you are sharing this pup. Good luck with her!

Tahkeesies. it's Indian for hater of hatred. The real Tahkeesies was a female warrior with lighter brown skin instead of the reddish cast of Indian. She led her tribe through several opposing tribes without one instance of war. She was a very reverent warrior to the Gods. She would sit and beckon the loving attitude of the Gods by sitting in the rain, looking up into it. Awesome story and a kind of intimidating name at the same time.

I have a 10 month old female pit and she is brown with white markings - very cute!!

She has a bully type face with a white streak going around her mouth and nose up between her eyes.

I went through a lot of names for her : Laila-Ali, Tiffani, Ashanti, Stormy, Sausha, I can't remember all of the names but a very cute name for a female large type dog is "Montana" !

Good luck with your pup, pits are the best breed and the most misunderstood.
OH, we decided to name our puppy "Alexis" - fits her to a tee.

My advice is see how her personality is. That is the only way that I named my dogs. And how about a sweet name and not a tough name---pitbulls r sweet at heart and most of the time don't live up 2 their "tough" names cause they r just big babies.----Consider it

I too have a Pitt, he went about 3 days before I actually got to name him. I looked in a baby book of names for him. I named him Macxwell (and let me point out it wasn't because he was good to the last drop - more like bad but I love him) and he has a middle name also Aiden which means 1st born son and protector. Macxwell Aiden won't fit for you because you have a little girl but check out some names and their meanings and watch her around the house for a few days. My vote for a girl would be Abigail Jade (Abigail means Source of Joy and Jade means Solid Stone) It fits because you know the breed grows solid and strong. You can call her AJ for short. Good luck!!

First of all I would like to say great choice in breed! I love pitbull's! I have a brown and white one named Samantha but I wanted to name her Sandy. They are sweet and tough. Anyway my name suggestions are Babirusa(a wild pig) , Kuma (means bear in Japanese), Aries(fighting god), Mayhem, Onyx, Pazzo (crazy in Italian), Rocca(a chocolate candy), Saber (a fighting sword), Audacity(a shameless fearless dog), and Blaze. Remember there are many more names out there but I hope you think about some of my suggestions! Good luck with your pit!
