I've suffered from depression most my life, I know more about what not to do.

Interact with other people, even if you don't want to. Isolating only makes it worse.

Ive been doing volunteer work. Helping others is a great way to feel better about yourself and get some perspective on your life.

It's also good to read up on it. For a long time, I thought I was the only one.

Well as a survivor of depression, I can tell you that the only person who can truly help you is yourself. Other people can give you all the love and good natured words in the world, but in the end, it's only you who can get yourself out of this slump. Not to be harsh, but you're about as happy as you make up your mind to be! Figure out exactly what it is about your life that makes you depressed, and work hard to fix it. Try to keep a positive attitude as much as possible. Discover things that you love to do that will give you some happiness in your life. If you have a lot of free time, find more things to do because this will keep you from getting bored and slumping into depression. Walking and excercise also helps, as well as keeping a journal in which you can write about whatever you want-free from anybody's judgement. Good luck and if you work at it, you WILL be happy again.

I suffered from severe depression for about three years. All questions eventually drove me crazy. I didn't want to talk to anyone, and it felt like everyone was an enemy.
The things that seemed to help me were:
1. Animals-I have a cat, and even when I didn't want to see anyone, my kitty was still my friend. Petting and taking care of her was a really good release from the world.
2.Volunteering-I volunteer weekly and an animal rescue center. It gets you out and about and also makes you feel good because you are helping others.
3.Art-I'm a creative type of person by nature, and drawing and painting are very relaxing for me.
4.Music-If you listen to upbeat, happy music, it can really be a savior!
Hope this helps!

Some other things that work are sunlight and exercise. Exercise releases endorphins that make you "feel good". But there are also times you may need medication to get over the hump. There's nothing wrong with that. When you're sick, you take medicine. Depression is usually due to a chemical imbalance in the body/brain. So there is nothing wrong with using medication just like you would if you had any other illness. :o)

talk to the people who know you best you cant heal but you can make life easier to deal with your friends and loved ones should just listen to you on a personal level and tell you their opinions. the questions that drive me crazy are people always asking me am i OK or whats the matter this time.
what doesn't work for me is hanging around people i dint trust, or trying to ignore the problem thinking it will go away and get better if you ignore it it will only get worse in time.

The best thing anyone can do for you is to realize you have a problem and still want to be your friend.

Things that drive me up a wall are well, Everything!

Well, not anymore now that I am on the meds, but still I worry about some things. I worry about other cars hitting me. such as when you are driving down the road and someone comes out of their driveway - I am scared to death they are not going to stop in time.

I also worry about my husband. I won't hardly get out of the house with out him. He has a lot of health problems and I'm afraid to even go downtown. I worry that something will happen while I'm not here and I won't be able to help him. I'm terrifed of being alone.

PRAY and have faith in God and yourself, that what ever kind problems comes your way, you can fairly face and solve it. Your friends and your love ones should encourage you to think it the possible and positively ways. Be an open minded, that whatever problem comes in, there will always be a way to resolve it. Life is the precious gift we received from God, we should enjoy it according to his will.
