lets see, I have been working as a chemical engineer for many years but I have to think back to remember a normal day of studying chemical engineering

wake up, skip breakfast, run to chemistry class
spend a couple of hours doing calculus homework due tomorrow
go to thermodynamics class (what the heck is that man talking about?)
eat lunch
meet study group to go over fluids homework (wow, we all got different answers, lets figure this out)
go to fluids class (hey I think I'm getting this, this is cool)
go to library to read english class homework, instead, sleep with head on desk
go to english class and successfully fake knowledge of the book
go home, grab a handfull of crackers for supper and run because I'm late for my date to play tennis with my girlfriend
get beat in tennis, go to her house and finally eat some decent food
meet my study group to study for fluids test
go home, go to bed

It was hard but it was good. I have a great job that pays well doing mostly stuff that I like to do.

I'm a chemical engineer and I don't think chemical engineering is any more difficult than any other engineering curriculum. I barely made it through my statics and dynamics classes, for non-mechanical engineers. But, I did just fine in my chemical engineering classes. It really depends upon what interests you.

All engineering curriculums require good math skills, so if you don't enjoy Calculus and differential equations, you won't enjoy engineering

It isn't that much about chemstry as it is about engineering!
A lot of applied physical chemistry, mostly.
A lot of hard studying, a lot of math...
You basically spend all your time solving problems and doing labs.
After school it all depends on what kind of work you get: some people I know are doing postgraduate studies. Others work even in unrelated stuff.
I'm in charge of operations, general services and (believe it or not) IT in a company that imports chemical products and food ingredients to all the countries in Central America!

It really sucks man, I hope you are in love with chemistry. If you don't like chemistry even the slightest, STAY AWAY from it. Luckily I'm an aerospace engineer, but my friends all regret studying chemical engineering.

Speaking as a Chemical engineer (class of 01), I don't think it sucks but he is right you got to love school. I spent most of my first 3 years in school going to classes and pulling my hair out studying for test. I cruise my senior year until I got to my senior projects, after that it was rougher than the first 3 year.

But lucky for me I had good friends that always brought me beer and food to cheer me up. Good luck to you man. It is tough, but can be rewarding.
