Atheist has several definitions

1. someone who does not believe in a god, (not a theist) but does not say that there is no God (weak atheist)

2. someone who actively believes that there are no gods (strong atheist). They have a conscious rejection of religion.

3. Someone who does not have a faith (implicit atheism) without actually rejecting religion.

An atheist is a person who does not believe there is a God. As opposed to an agnostic, who disclaims any knowledge of God, but does not disbelieve He may exist.

Someone who wan't affraid of thinking and asked himself if all that he was forced to accept about religions was true, and reached to the logical answer that all religions were created by men, so God is also a creation of the those religions and doesn't exist.

I would prefer the word skeptic. When asked, "Do you believe in God?" we answer, "No, I have never been offered any proof as to the existence of gods."

Some of us to find it an interesting subject as it applies to philosophy, anthropology and psychology - even though we obviously give no credibility to the dogmatic content.
