I think it is good to put these positive Christian values in films. The way things are going in the world today and the way Hollywood makes movies nowadays, they all need a morality check.

Well, if you watch the first superman. Superman: The Movie (1978) staring Christopher Reeve, You can clearly see the Christian elements are all in there.....

Jor-El: [bidding his son farewell, as Lara looks on] You will travel far, my little Kal-El. But we will never leave you... even in the face of our deaths... the richness of our lives shall be yours. All that I have, all that I've learned, everything I feel... all this, and more... I bequeath you, my son. You will carry me inside you all the days of your life. You will make my strength your own, and see my life through your own eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father the son. This is all I can send you, Kal-El.

[In the fortress of Solitude, as Clark discovers his heritage, this is his father's final message to him]

Jor-El: Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son.

In Spider-man 1, there is even a Superman reference.....

Aunt May: You do to much, you're not superman you know.

Next summer, there will be a Spider-man 3. Spider-man finds a strange black substance and it covers his suit, soon he is being corrupted by the substance and becaoming evil until he gets rid of it entirely, but then villain "Venom" will be born.

You didn't seem to mention one other big blockbuster movie with strong Christian message, Disney's: The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe written by none other than C.S. Lewis. Asland the Lion is similar to Christ.

A little history note: Through out the Bible, the Lion is depicted as a symbol of power, courage and strength. I wonder why C.S. Lewis chosed the Lion to be King of Narnia. Hummmm, I wonder??????

Also, there are many Christian elements in the Star Wars and Star Trek, shows and movies. Can you find them all????

I think Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster are spinning in their graves. Superman wasn't intended to be Christ like. When the comic book was created, he was just a human from another world, and Earth gave him extra ordinary abilities because of a weaker gravity, and the yellow sun hardened his skin. Certainly not the so called "Last Son of Krypton, or Krypton's Only Begotten son. The comics of the 80's started this trend to make Superman a God of some sort, and that was totally the wrong thing to do.
I am very disappointed in DC Comics and the movie writers, directors, and producers of the last few decades.

It's a huge theme in our culture, religious or otherwise. We poor humans are so screwed up that we have no clue how we ought to live and so need someone to "save" us. Be it a religious savior or a super hero it's the same thing. A fictional character come to make our messed up lives better because we can't. It's the main driving character of our way of life. Once we get get it into our heads the fact that we are not flawed beings and that there are other ways to live that make life much less miserable we won't need saviors any more.

I had to think about that one to find the religious theme. I guess you mean when superman got sick etc. It can't have been a parallel to christ. He obviously had a son when we all know that Jesus had a daughter (he wasn't married either) (lol)

Seriously though - get a life religion isn't in everything

Ever imagine that you spot non secular tones in comics because the topic of there being an omnipotent being who can rescue us is one which has been seen because the start of recorded heritage. that is even authentic in cultures that not in any respect crossed paths. of direction non secular people would say that is because their God has spoken to each and each and every of those people in a roundabout way. i imagine that is because human variety has a bent to make issues as a lot as clarify issues we are able to not at present clarify.

I think Hollywood knows what sells movies, and because of how we are made by God spiritually it appeals to us. The biblical themes are powerful because they are true, and we respond.
We have seen it many times, and likely will many more - it would be nice if it were more widely recognized however.

hmmm...i dont see them. if you mean the idea of one extra-special person sacrificing himself for the good of others....that story has been around for as long as speech has.

movies are basiclaly camp fire tales that are on screens. they convey stories that have been told ofr a long long time. i see no religious overtone...all i see are the same stories retold agai nand again in differen lights.
