It can be harmless, if you can set a limit you can afford and are able to stop there. It can be extremely harmful though, and has ruined many lives because of its addictive nature. Or, more accurately, playing upon the nature of those with addictive personalities. These people cannot stop and yes, for them gambling ruins lives.

Like many attractive activites like alcohol, smoking or pornography, gambling can be highly addictive. Just because you're not addicted or don't think you will be doesn't mean you should indulge in it. Why try it? What if you are susceptable to becoming addicted? Do you really want to find out the hard way?

It's expensive, not "harmless", and the "fun" depends on the person. Do you think it's fun to give someone your money because they say, "Maybe I'll give you more back?" I don't think so, but that's me.

God has called us to be good stewards of the resources that He has provided to us. So I ask you, is gambling with God's money (the money He gave you to use in order to pay for your needs and to bless others ) a good idea?

Not really.
It starts off as harmless fun.
for a few it remains harmless fun.
For too many it becomes a sickness.

It's like many other activities. If you can control it, it's fun, but there is a lot of potential for it to spin out of control and become destructive. You've gotta be REAL careful.
