ANY unpaid bill affects your credit in ANY state.

No, they turn people over to collection agencies and do affect your credit rating. Bills do not mysteriously disappear. I think we need more doc-in- the- boxes that take insurance and payment plans with better hours. The emergency rooms are flooded with non emergency patients that take beds from the critically ill. Clinics are cheaper to go to. Emergency rooms are so expensive to try to cover the costs of the nonpaying patient. The ER's are abused by some because of the lack of medical accessibility. In the mean time try to go to other places for sore throats, urinary tract infections, and such.Be health smart. Big changes will have to be considered because the system cannot keep functioning the way it is. I hope this helped. Have a healthy day.

They can affect your credit like any other bill but if the rest of your credit is sound and your score is in the mid 600's most banks will work with you to an extent. We understand you can't save up for a trip to the emergency room but you have to help us help you but keeping the rest of your credit in shape.
Also most states have a legal min you can pay to keep a medical bill out of collections it can be anywhere from $5 to $25.
