Wedding planners are there to take the stress out of the planning and the big day. If you can find a good one, they will find ways to save you money on the other items in your wedding - everything from the reception to the flowers to the token gifts to the guests. I am hoping this doesn't really sound like a pitch since I am a Wedding Planner, but good wedding planners save time, money and greatly reduce your stress because they are organized and know what has to be done by what dates. One thing you can do, if you are seriously looking for a wedding planner is to check out one of the following two websites:

http://www.theknot.com
http://www.bridalassn.com/

The first website has a local vendors listing for every state and the Toronto area for Canada including a section for Wedding Consultants. The second website is the Association of Bridal Consultants which is based out of Canada. In order to be a part of this group, you have to pass their course and meet certain guidelines. Consequently, their members are knowledgable and will fulfill their contractual obligations to a tee because they don't want to lose their accreditation.

Hope that helps.

You should expect to be a lot less stressed out for the time leading up to your wedding. A wedding planner can be someone who will give you great ideas that you might not think of on your own, introduce you to vendors that most people don't know about and get you fantastic discounts. But you do have to be careful because there are a lot of people out there who will just charge you a whole bunch of money but not really help you very much at all. You also have to find someone you trust and that you click with.

I have a wedding planner b/c she was recommended by a friend. It was so wonderful. I did almost nothing but tell her what I want and got it all. I have very simple taste and my wedding total was only $3,000. If you are more extravagant it will cost you more but ask around maybe someone can recommend a good one to you. I would never do it any differently.

Some one who is well organized first off. She should cater to you and put together the wedding "you" want, and make some good suggestions. SHe should take care of all the little details so you don't have to be bothered with it all
