I have read the verses u are speaking about & in my opinion it does not mean that the son is older than the father. First u have assumed that the son was made king directly after the father died. This is not necessarily true.If a king dies & leave an underage son, Some person called the King's regent is chosen 2 rule until that son comes of age. When the son starts 2 rule, history would note it as the son ruling in place of his father even though the Regent would have ruled in the period between. This is because the son would be the1st legal ruler by blood. In fact decisions made by the Regent would be made in the Son's name. Eg. If the Queen of England was 2 die & lets say that Prince Charles was underage, had no siblings & next in line 2 rule. A duke can rule on his behalf as Regent. When the duke makes laws the documents would have the letterhead of Prince Charles & the duke would be signing on his behalf. So in the verses u have given the son was CROWNED King at 42yrs probably because he was unable 2 be crowned before maybe for personal reasons (travelling, war, reluctance 2 rule, etc.). His regent though would be ruling for him. Once again translations can cause many misunderstandings of the Bible.

I think I know what you're referring to. It's someplace where a bunch of different kings of Israel are listed, and in one case, the king's son is listed as 2 years older than his father, right? Can't remember which king, though. Such numerical errors are all over the place in the Bible. I dunno about you, but I would expect nothing less than absolute perfection from an all-powerful, all-wise creator of everything, which means that everything in his book (or what is alleged to be his book) should be 100% accurate to the last detail. If I were God, that's how I would do it. But Christians have very low expectations of their God, so they expect him to get lots of things wrong. I guess they figure he's a really busy guy, and maybe he didn't have time to proofread everything before sending it off to the printers...but couldn't he have assigned Archangel Michael or Gabriel to do that? Damned angels never do anything but stand around blowing trumpets all day, anyway.

Both. You see the original bible was written by men inspired by God. Over the centuries, others(royalty and clergy included) have wanted to add their two cents worth to achieve self centered agendas.I have found that the spirit will lead you if you let it. The bible is filled with great parables and stories that teach positive lessons and if everyone followed (believers or not) just commandments covered in Exodus chapter 20 verses 12-17,the world as we know it will be transformed into a paradise. Peace.

Youve got the wrong verse there. 1 Chronicles 21:20 says: Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He passed away, to no one's regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

The bible was made by common people like us who needed a story book to impose morals and teach ideals and histories that were used as entertainment and to explain the unexplanable. Now science can explain most everything so the bible is obsolete

The TRUE REVELATION from God is perfect but the humans that translate the Bible are well, humans. Also, there are some Greek words/phrases that there is no English word/phrase for. If we all knew ancient Greek, it would look more perfect.

who said that? The Bible is God's Word. Revelation from God, is when God reveals Himself to you.

the bible was written by humans INSPIRED by God. It was also translated by humans a few times ... so there may be mistakes in the translation.

What son? What dad?

It's hard to answer when the question doesn't say what it's asking about.
