I would submit to you that they don't truly believe in whatever they believe in, for if they did, they would welcome the ascension to heaven.

Some are scared of what they are leaving behind (family, friends...). Others are scared about going through the death process (cancer, pain...). They don't know how they will die and what the experience will be like. They are scared of the unknown.

The soul is not afraid of death, it chooses one's time and manner of death. The body and the conscious ego however, fight death, knowing at a deeper level that neither will be required in the spiritual dimension, where we return to our true soul selves.

I worry who might take care of my son. But I guess you could say I lack faith. If my faith was stronger I would give up trying so hard to control things and realize God has a plan :) Its a hard thing to understand because most of us haven't experienced death. Fear of the unknown.

When God made Adam & Eve, he made them to live forever. We still have that desire within us, so it is natural for us to want to keep on living. God wants us to live forever also and promises us that soon we will have the opportunity to do so. We will get back what our first parents lost.
