I believe in God. I believe that Jesus is the son of God but I am never pray to Jesus. I also believe that God is loving and forgiving and looks at our weaknesses but doesn't sentence us to hell because we are bad (sins). I believe humans are good, for the most part, and that "things" have happened to us that make us commit sin. I tested INFP on Keirsey so that may explain my basic tenets . I want a church or religion that is most closely aligned to my beliefs. Any ideas

I can think of a bunch of places for you.

The Swedenborgian Church

Unity might be a good fit. They are open to the more mystical aspects of Christianity so this might fit well with your INFPness. I'm an INFP also.

United Methodist can be a good fit. Some are more up beat and others are more old fashioned so you'll have to look around.

Unitarian Universalist: They might be a little too squishy (Open to too many things) but then again depending on the group it might be a good fit.

Friends Church or Quakers: You don't say if you're a pacifist but this might be a good fit too.

Hope this helps.

Pax

Far be it from me to encourage religiousity, but have you tried Universal Unitarianism? Here is their website: http://www.uua.org/aboutuu/uufaq.html

Quote:

" We do not, however, hold the Bible-or any other account of human experience-to be either an infallible guide or the exclusive source of truth. Much biblical material is mythical or legendary. Not that it should be discarded for that reason! Rather, it should be treasured for what it is. We believe that we should read the Bible as we read other books (or the newspaper)-with imagination and a critical eye."

If more religious people were like this, the world would be such a better place. Instead, we have fanatics running around killing each other over whose holy book is the best.

You seem to have a religious view of God and I mean man religion. God is not a religion, but to know ALL the answeres to ALL your question, read the Bible. I could explain to you all this but I'd use bible quotes anyway. ALL is about God's love of course but also about God's Justice.

Nobody goes to hell or heaven because they are bad or good. Since sin has entered the human world, know that we are now all born dead spiritually (therefore we automatically don't qualify to go to heaven). To go to heaven one must be saved and that is a free gift from God. Anyone who wants to spend eternity in God's presence can have this gift freely but as it is a gift, one must want it.

Those who chose not to ask for/take it will not enter the kingdom of Heaven. That is it. It is free but you must want and take it with all your heart. if you want to know more:

Now as for your wants, do you want a place of TRUTH or a place where you feel good even though it may be lies and deception?

I agree with the other poster who said to try the Unitarian Universalist Church. They're very open, groovy people, and their tenets seem to line up pretty well with yours. Some UU churches will be more Christian than others; you might have to shop around for the particular church you want.

I think you should start by praying to God, if your really trying to find your spiritual self, I think that's the best way to start. Just Pray "God, I believe in you, reveals yourself to me..In the name of Jesus. Amen" God will answer you, if in your heart you are truely seeking him. That's kinda how I did it. I prayed one night "God I'm 30 yrs old and have done nothing with my life, if your real I want to serve you" 2 months later I was saved.

I have found my "self" without spirits. For my introduction to my self, I had to distant my body from external distractions. This process took many years and is not the same for everyone. Those that truly know their-selves, and are healthy in a holistic way, have found this elusive entity and know that there is nothing "spiritual" about this finding; especially when spirits are attached to religions like Christianity.
