For instance, a man who loves golf dies and spends eternity playing golf might well be in heaven, but a man who hates the sport yet is destined to do the same would be languishing in hell. Do you think things might work this way when our lives end? If not, then feel free to tell me what you believe.

Yes, one man's heaven can be another's hell. But, personally, I believe hell (punishment) happens in this lifetime... even if we don't see it.

I think heaven and hell can be right here on earth. It comes from within.
I know that some days I can wake up and feel happy joyous and free and then the next day wake up angry and resentful when nothing has changed. It is about my spiritual condition and my relationship with god. When I pray and meditate everyday I am better able to handle life's little battles, but when I isolate even a stubbed toe can become my personal hell.

I dunno. But it's a lot better question than another one on Darwin.
I've heard both the terms " Heaven on earth and Hell on this earth." But I don't think I could ever find Heaven in Hell. Now vice-versa, could probably happen if you don't watch your "P's and Q's" up there. Somebody could take me to a stripper club without my prior knowledge of the destination of the impending trip, and I would surely wish to be somewhere else. This has happened to me before so I can say that would be my reaction. Then again, I might take someone, under the same circumstances, to church and they would probably have the same reaction I did. So here's my take with examples.

Hell on earth = living every millisecond of a F-5 tornado ripping through your house.

Heaven on earth = Finding the love of your life.

Waking up and finding you're in Heaven..........PRICELESS.

So to answer your question with YOUR examples, yeah, I think you could be right.

The very way that you presented your question, is presented in the sesnse of seeing things which are spritual through worldly or carnal eyes. When speaking of Heaven or of Hell, you are making a reference to things which truly exist in the spritual realm. Here on earth, however, what is one mans Heaven could not possibly be another man's Hell. Anything that is referred to as Hell, even here on Earth, is a reference to something that is wrong or evil or bad in some sense. So no, one man's heaven is NOT another man's Hell...unless of course, the person you refer to is "evil" by nature...certainly then of course, heaven would be his or her "Hell"...because they are the enemies of the True and Living God. And by the way, God DOES INDEED EXIST; so it's not wise to compare spiritual truths and verities with anything here on Earth...because nothing here on earth can be compared to it...except the Bible (KJV), which is a "spiritual Book" and can only be truly understood through spiritual eyes. Unless you have the Spirit of Christ indwelling you...there is NO POSSIBLE WAY of perceiveing these verities. But they do exist...but NOT here upon the Earth...which makes it senseless to use this metaphore on things existing here upon the Earth. If you doubt me, then hear this: You will be a believer when you pass away and leave your body to be buried...at which time, you will lift your eyes in either Heaven or in Hell. The choice is entirely in your hands.

Your analogy is probably not too far off the mark. People like to picture Heaven as a place where angels are singing and trumpets are playing, but in reality, I like to believe that heaven is what we make it. If, for instance, we believe in the clouds and harps, that will be our heaven. If we love to fish, perhaps a mountain lake with an endless supply of trout will be our Heaven. The possibilities could be endless. Likewise, if we fear the water, and hate fishing... mountain lake.

Mark Twain said he would choose heaven for the climate, but hell for the company. I have a number of reasons to avoid heaven, not least of which is the assurance that my relatives will be waiting for me there.

No one knows this answer. Anyone who tries to give you an answer are full of themselves or something else.

I don't know the exact answer, but your energy has to go somewhere "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed." Energy is just moved around. No one knows where your energy (spirit) goes after you die.
One thing is for certain, early man has been afraid of the afterlife ever since we used sticks for tools.
No one is certain what the afterlife holds, but we have always been afraid of the unknown.
