I'm a Christian so the bible tells me to take "every thought captive to Christ". When I find my mind going to things that are sinful, etc., I ask the Lord to forgive me and purify my mind, mouth and heart.

prayer, meditation, and a gratitude list. When I start to forget all that is a gift in my life and I feel myself get focused on the negative I try to stop and begin a gratitude list. It starts really simple. I am grateful that I have two working legs, I am grateful for my job, whatever you may be grateful for. Then after just a short list I am better able to identify recognize the importance of whatever I was letting get me down. It is a constant conscious decision not to let negative input alter my mood.

Control your diet; that is....control what you take in to yourself. Don't watch shows and listen to music that contradict who you want to be. VERY IMPORTANT...be careful about who you listen too. If you are in relationship with negative people, your thoughts will become more negative. Fortunately the same is true for wise and positive people. Find friends who are the way that you want to be.

Philippians 3:6-8 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, what ever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things."

Whenever something bad happens, remind yourself of all the good things coming from it, and how things could be worse.
When you have a negative thought, catch yourself, and make it a positive one.
You'll train yourself that way. :D

It is remarkably simple. Do not allow yourself to be offended, that it. Most folk who do this backslide once in a while, accept that and continue. This works for all and any who employ it and it's even in the bible if your one of those Christian people. I hope this helps, I am aware that for many it's too simple, consider this if you will; most of the good things in life are. Take care.

I purpusefully think of what I'm thinking about, and if it's negative I replace that thought with a good one!

Why, oh Lord Why, would you want to "TRAIN YOUR THOUGHTS"???? Woouldn't you rather be a free thinking individual, with an independent opinion on everything? Why would you WANT to be part of any status quo clique?
