OK, there are two major options here. One is to deport all the illegal immigrants, which would have a rather significant effect on our economy because the farmers who are depending on migrants would have to find legal citizens to work for them. The other is money; if we legalize all the people here who are working for dirt cheap wages and give them real jobs we're going to have to raise the prices of prodce, etc. because although there might not be much of a problem with finding people who would be willing to do the same work, I imagine that you would be pretty hard pressed to find as many people who are willing to work for less than minimum wage under the conditions that alot of the illegal immigrants are working under. Seriously, how many legal citizens of this country are going to want to work for the same wages that th illegals are being paid? Sure, it may sound logical to kick out all the illegal immigrants, but we need to stop for a second first an consider the potential economic impact.

. The US has quota for every country. Anyone can stand in line at a US Consulate office in their respective countries and apply for legal immigration. Outside of Mexico and Central America, most immigrants get to the US this way. It may take years to immigrate, but when you get here, you get to reap the rewards of legal immigration.
There are other legal ways to immigrate. These include:
1. Applying for refugee status. This is done in special cases only. This is how many Vietnamese got here after the Vietnam War.
2. Apply for asylum. This is done for special cases where you can prove that you will be physically harmed by your government. Get ready to prove it.
3. They allow Cuban's to immigrate if they hit dry land in the US.
4. If you have over $1M and agree to start a business which employs legal immigrants or citizens, then they will allow you to immigrate under special consideration.
5. Marry a US citizen and stay married for 5 years.
There are other ways to legally immigrate. I don't have any problems with immigrants. They made this country what it is today. I have no problems with allowing temporary work permits for Mexican and Central American's to work for a fixed term in certain low-level jobs (agriculture, etc). I do have a problem with illegal immigration. I am Mexican by heritage - and proud of my background. I am also proud that my ancestors followed the rule of law and not the rule of disrespect for the laws of our nation

There are a number of ways to immigrate legally. Learn a skill or trade that is in demand by Industry and can't be supplied by Colleges and Universities in the U.S..Get on a list and wait your turn. The immigration laws are designed to maintain the ethnic balance of the nation. Illegal immigrants are a significant burden to the economy. The public pays for their health care and the education of their children. Ever been in an auto accident with one? Good luck on getting restitution! When they work at less than market wages, they drive down wages for everyone.

We limit the number of poor who can come because we subsidize education, health care and other services for poor people. If you come within the limit we allow, you are welcome.
However, it is a good deal for poor immigrants to have us pay for so much for them, even if they pay all taxes, so the line is long to get here.
Coming above the number we allow is stealing those services from our children, our poor, our elderly and our sick.
Had only a few, or a few hundred thousand come, we wouldn't be worried about this. It is NOT racism. The problem is that it is 12 to 20 million, and plans being considered would also let them bring in family, and would let in other guest workers who would also be on a path to citizenship and bring family. Those numbers are huge, and the state of education and health care for the poor in our border states and areas where illegals concentrate very clearly demonstrate the effect of this burden.
We can't afford all those who want to come. Our laws have to serve our population. They don't exist to provide access to our subsidized services for poor foreigners.

I see too many people complaining that I entered their house illegally. They say it's breaking and entering. They keep telling me, why don't you just ring the doorbell, or call and ask if you can come over? Well that's all pretty good talk.
But what do you know about breaking and entering laws? Show me the deed to your house, please??? What kind of offers does the homeowners association have for entering your private home in legal way?
I just want to know "coz" it seems to me it's kind of hard to enter your house legally, if I am a crackhead who just wants to sell drugs out of your basement, I am smelly, unemployed, and don't speak English. It seems to me like you people who own houses should make it easier to get in, and stop putting locks on your doors and fences around your yard. Otherwise I might have to marry your daughter or smash a window!!!!!!

Let me dispel a myth.
How the legal way fails:
By importing foreign nationals, unlimited and unchecked, and for the greater part of them being unskilled and pregnant MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IN THE END. You would be in the same position.
Right now people are only looking at illegals. Without a system of checks and balances - it will be for nothing.
THE SENATE BILL CALLS FOR 103 MILLION LEGAL IMMIGRANTS EVERY 20 YEARS!

I don't want them getting their children educated with my tax dollars. Nor do I want to see them getting medical attention at our expense. If they come into this country legaly and pay taxes just like the rest of us I then have no problem with immigrants. If I have to pay my way through life to live it here then I'm not willing to give intruders any freebies. Especially since I have had to work so hard all my life to get what little I have including a small social security check each month which isn't anywhere near what I paid into it.

My theory is, that if there weren't so many illegals here, and if the US needed more immigrants to fill jobs they would change their laws so make it easier for immigrants to come into this country legally to work and ultimately become citizens. America would find a way to make ends meet.

If people have skills which are useful and needed in the US, they can get a work visa to come to this country. Most of the mexicans are unskilled labor. In addition, it does cost money to apply for a visa and to travel legally. That's why they don't do the process legally.

Well according to my husband there is a legal way to enter the US but you pretty much have to be rich in Mexico in order to get what you need. everyone thinks the cost of living is cheaper in Mexico well it's not. I asked my husband what was needed to come here legally and he told me that he would have had to have gotten passport. and i know that it sounds simple enough but i asked him how much it would cost for him to get a passport and he told me that it would cost him a HEARD of cattle in order to be able to get a passport to come to the US then they are still NOT "legal" it just makes it a little easier and cheaper to become legal. The INS does offer the ones that are here illegal too become legal but there is a long process that they have to go through. First they have to file an application then wait for their name to be brought up and they have to hire a lawyer. then they go in front of someone that is like a Judge and they have to tell them that they are sorry for coming here illegal and they are fined like thousands of dollars that they have to pay then have to go back to their country for anywhere from 3 months to 3 years then when they are able to return they are legal.

Legally or not the immigrants keep the salaries low or bring unemployment because they work cheaper. They have no place in a Nation State.
