I'd go down to the police department and INSIST they take a report because all the creditors are going to require a copy before they take any action.....You also need to call each and every creditor and demand a fraud claim form which you need to fill out and return w/ a copy of the police report....

CALL all three credit agencies and freeze your credit so no more damage can be done....

Type of a form letter and get it mailed to every creditor in question so that there is documentation of your efforts to clear up this matter and tell them in the letter to stop calling you.

You have A LOT of frustrating phone calls and letter writing to do....I wish you luck and expediency (and hope it never happens to me)....

by the way, if the identity theft is "severe" enough you can petition Social security to provide you a new number...don't know the details, but have read about a few successful attempts..

Finally, get a filing system together (3 ring binder) and keep everything together and copies of everything sent and received because three years from now this documentation might save you some further frustration.

Go there right now!! This is what my mom did when her identity was stolen, and no matter what the credit companies say, you are not liable.
