Certainly exercizing and eating healthily contribute to good health, but do they aid in growth as well? I undestand that if you suffer from malnutrition, you are likely to not reach your potential height, so I understand it helps in this respect; this is not what I mean...

What about posture? I know you can appear taller with posture, but does maintaining good posture also help in growth as well?

I am 17 and 5'8, if it matters. Around what time does growth end?

Pay no mind to the smartasses.

Posture doesn't just make you "appear" taller, it actually makes you taller - or should I say slouching makes you shorter. Standing up straight shows your true height. While good posture does not make you taller in the sense you're asking about, poor posture can actually make you shorter, though. People with poor posture are more likely to suffer from back problems that can lead to small fractures - ever hear the joke "the incredible shrinking woman" when applied to older women because of insufficient calcium intake? It's partially caused by these mini-fractures.

You're probably almost done growing by now - you may add an inch in the next few years, maybe another 1/2 inch by the time you're in your late 20s. Note that I didn't say "Unfortunately you're probably done growing by now." Being 5'8" is not a negative thing (Tom Cruise is 5'8" I believe; Ja Rule is 5'6", Sarah Michelle Gellar is 5'3" - and I *still* believe she can kick vampire butt, Kurt Cobain was 5'7", Robert Downey Jr 5'7", Spud Webb 5'7", hockey great Therrien {sp?} Fleury 5'6" - well, I think you get my point by now).

Height says nothing about you. What you do, does. Good luck.

PS - don't buy into any of those "natural enhancement" things or steroids in hopes you can make yourself taller. A, they don't work and B, they can be VERY bad for you.

Your size is predetermined by genetics, nothing helps. A male grows until age 21 normally, your doctor could tell you if you are done growing. Girls tend to quit growing 2 - 3 years after their first menstrual cycle. But unfortunately they are no ways of making your self taller, short of having surgery and having your bones stretched, which you are not a candidate for. Accept yourself for who you are.I am a woman and like 6 foot tall and i have to accept that. So being an average height truly is a blessing, take it and be happy

Men can continue to grow until about 17-18 when they reach their full height potential, For women they stop growing at about 16 but their breasts can continue to grow until 25. (I know strange) 5'8 is average height, and is nothing to be ashamed of (I happen to be 5'8 as well) However aside from surgery there is nothing to help you become taller, and doctors won't perform leg stretching surgery on people who do not suffer from dwarfism.
