Thank you for your question. I have asked people this before: If your parents or your child were killed with a gun, would you wear it around your neck and cherish it, or kiss it, or want it to remind you of their death? The same is true of the instrument of torture that Jesus was put to death on. We have God's Word to remind us of Jesus' death and if we read about it and study it, we do not need a symbol to help us. Then we become victims of idolatry, which God condemns.
Keep in mind the Scripture found at 2 Corinthians 5:7_" For we walk by faith, not by sight"
Thanks again.

If the cross is an idol.

In that sense everything could be an idol.

But, in order for a cross to become an idol it has to be worshipped. And, even though I'm a Christian with plenty of crosses in my home and church I don't worship it. It's a daily reminder of Christ and what he did for me...

Yes Roman Catholics worship cricifixes although they all deny it.
On good Friday in their churches a massive crucifix is brought out and EVERYONE of them kneels down in front of it and kisses the feet of the plastic jesus!
So yes Rcs are idol worshippers despite their claims that they dont it is very clear that they are.

No...we don't worship the cross. We worship the One who died on it to bring us salvation. The cross is a symbol of Jesus's suffering for us.

Yes. It is a graven image. You know the 10 commandements. Also we need to celebrate that Christ resurrected. He suffered for our sins in Gethsemane not the cross. He suffered a murderous death on the cross. Quite aweful. Took me years of study to understand that. Think about it.

No, because people do not worship the cross. It's a symbol of Christ's crucifixion.

When you worship it, yes. If you look at it and it reminds you what happens on a cross 2,000 years ago, no. It all depends on how you look at the cross.

Could be. Is the cross or the idea behind it more important.

Do you kneel before the cross or kneel before God?

If the cross was destroyed would you consider it sacrilege? Or is it just a material item that is being destroyed?
