I once met an illegal in the Arizona desert (risking his life) . When asked why? why not move to a better place in Mexico, instead of the US?
He answered, that he was alone in Oaxaca, MX.
Everybody in his family had moved to California. So, he wanted to be with them.
Like him, many Mexicans find themselves alone and with no future. In Mexico family plays an important part in ones career and opportunities.
That's mainly the reason why I decided to stay in Mexico. I have everything I need here. I don't need anything from the US to be successful.
I got a BA from CSULB and I also have a green card, but I've never worked in the US.
If I was ever given the chance to choose another country to live, it would be Spain. There, Mexicans are welcomed and not treated like second class citizens.

it could be a variety of reasons... and i believe few people read and answered your questions.... drive and determination does not necssarily mean you do something illegal.... many countries have things worse off, but they try to come here legally (they have not lab borders to cross, so they are forced to).... but coming from another country myself (completely legally), all my family remains in my home country and even though they have a rough time they remain because they are loyal to their home, they love their country (and take the good and the bad to live there), whilst many others decide to take an easier life in the US; but someone people remain because it is hard to cross the border illegally (I don't agree with it, but I can't deny it is rough), some people remain because even with the bad, they love their country and will make the best of what they have, and also some people stay because they are not in the lower or poor class.... if you are wealthy or middle class you don't have a great reason to leave.... you can afford to live anyhow you want.... some people come to the US to have a better life, some come for an easier life, some come to escape something (legal or illegal)..... but despite all people say about Mexico.... I know it could be much worse, I have seen much worse (but those people can run across a border, and if they did they would be arrested, jailed for years or returned home).

Hmmm, this is a tuff one. It couldn't be because our Gross Domestic Product is billlions of dollars greater than Mexico.
And as for those coming here for illegal activities - there are a$$holes in every group. Just look at that judge that was recently convicted of masturbating while court was in session. Or look at those five soldiers that raped an Iraqi girl and murdered her family. There are bad apples in every group - unfortunately no one has devised a sure fire way of screening them out.

One of the reasons my family and I came from Mexico was so that my parents could give us a better life. We crossed over legally (with border passes) but we had not legal right to stay, but we did. We have recently received our papers. The reason people cross over are plenty, to give their kids a better life, to support their family back home or to be with other family members who have moved to the United States. If you have never dealt with living in a third world country and had to leave everything you know to survive then you have no right to judge. Yeah, a lot of families stay behind but they do not have the kind of lifestyle we have. In the United States we are considered Middle Class in Mexico we would be considered Rich. That is the sacrifice my parents made, leave everything to give us a better life. And we do have one. My dad is self-employed and owns his own business, my Mom is a Teacher's Aide and is going back to school to get her B.A. in Child Development and become a Teacher, I have a B.A. in Criminal Justice and am going to Law School, my sister's a phlebotomist, my other sister just got out of High School and is going to college and my youngest sister is only 6 and thanks to my parents will not have to know poverty.

As much as I would like to say it, viewing how many polls said many Mexicans would do it illegally if necessary. So respect for our laws probably isn't it. I think it may be they have family they don't want to leave, or they might actually realize it is dangerous.
Coyotes are also expensive, they could just be saving money to get one. Who knows for sure.

I know you don't wanna hear my opinion(your just gonna do silly word play with my nickname, ohhh scary).I beleive that the ppl that come illegally actually have more determination. They will let nothing stop them. This is also the reason why they don't commit crimes and try to be productive members of society.
Yeah I know, whatever,I've said my piece.

They don't want to go through the process. Maybe they have a crime record or TB or lazy.
To the above-they can work or go to school or both. It is not just about money to be able too. And they must follow rules--millions have done it the right way-that is a poor excuse.

Illegals have a low character. They aren't concerned about obeying any laws and so their cycle continues when they get over here.

because in order to come legally is to pay and to go to school which cost money and what is the reason immigrants are coming here?? to get money so how do you expect them to pay that money when in Mexico their is sorrow and lots of poverty not all of us are as lucky so some have to do it to survive and look for something better for them and family..
