Why do people only judge Seattle based on the weather are people in the U.S that shallow or simple minded? Its a well know fact that Seattle gets less rain than 90 % of the south, midwest, and east coast and has better air quality and cleaner water than most of "sunny" California cities and Phoenix. Its green for a reason

Its laughable to hear someone from Houston Texas rip on Seattle about weather when the air quality and the humidity are the worst in the country. Also mens health rated Houston as the "fattest city in America" By the way, Seattle was in the top three note that in your notepad!!!

Look at it this way: if Seattle has such miserable weather, why do so many people brave it? Seattle is such a naturally beautiful place, people are willing to put up with a lot.

It's the late spring and late-lasting summers in Seattle that make it all worthwhile. During that time, the mountains and the water and the trees are illuminated in such a way that they seem to glow for the rest of the year.

The weather is Seattle's best quality. They don't call our state "The Evergreen State" for nothin'!

Seattle is known for it's rain, not the amount of rainfall, but the number of days of grayness. However, a lot of Californians have moved to Seattle or Washington State because it is less harried, it's laid back because of the weather. If one can tolerate the gray skies, Seattle is a good place to raise kids, I did. Clean air, lots of places to go to, camping even when it rains, and you get more house for your money. Boeing isn't the only employer anymore, there's Microsoft, Amazon.com, Costco, and that's where Starbucks headquarter is located, what more can you ask.

Nobody ever talks about it raining in those other regions you mentioned, but Seattle supposedly gets about 70" of rainfall a year. Besides, whoever said that Seattle is "judged" by the type of weather it gets? Personally, I've never been there, so I cannot judge one way or the other. I would imagine it's a nice city.

I actually think Seattle has great weather. I swear, it's the most gorgeous state in the nation in terms of summers, because we have so much green and it's warm but not so warm that you can't do anything.

But, don't tell anyone how great it is. I don't want more people moving out here from the east.

SHHHHH. lol

Pssst.... if you love Seattle.. keep its attributes a secret. Why ruin it with a lot of folks running up there to live and visit?

I live in Philadelphia and we have almost exactly the same annual rainfall as Seattle. (But Seattle has twice as many rainy days.)

Seattle is also well known for rock, goth, the space needle, Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft.. lots of good and important things.

From a native Seattleite speaking, I made up all of those references that it rains too much here. It's a way I try to keep others from transplanting themselves here and congesting our already bad roadways.
With employers like Boeing, Microsoft, Starbucks and outdoor enthusiats we have all too many people moving to our Evergreen State.
Don't even think about visiting here in July and August when you might be fooled about the lack of grey skys and rain.
