Huge difference...
Catholics think you need to go to your priest for forgiveness and they pray to saints. Catholics have additional books that they teach from as "Holy" books. Being Catholic is more of a "religion" and "legalistic" (i.e. you must do this, this and this or else this happens).
Baptist pray to Jesus and ask for forgiveness (from the source of forgiveness)...and they teach from the Holy Bible.
Religion is man's way to try and get to God.
Relationship is God's way of reaching us through Jesus Christ.
If you are looking for a church to attend, may I be so bold as to recommend looking for a spirit filled church that urges relationship and has moved away from "religion." A church that teaches that the Holy Bible is God's word...and there is no other.
Grace to you and God Bless!
P.S. I'm not Baptist or Catholic...I attend a non-denominational Church...

Baptists take the Bible literally. They don't seem to like Catholicism because of the traditions and rituals that are such an important part of the religion. Catholics do not worship Mary. The honor Mary and the saints because they believe that these people are great role models for everyday life. They also believe that these people are in heaven, or with God, praying for those of us here on earth. Catholics also do not take the Bible literally in many cases. Baptists will tell you that Catholicism is completly unscriptural and disregards the Bible completely, but the truth is that Catholicism relies on both the Bible and the tradtion that has been compiled over 2000 years.

well i am only 14 but have gone to private school all my life 3 of those years in a baptist private school and 3 years in a catholic school from which I just graduated 8th grade. I am a catholic. But the difference is that baptist dont really beliieve or praise angels, mary, saints etc. and catholics do we all believe in the one same God but Baptists dont believe that mary, joseph or any angels or saint should really be held accountable or prayed to. But dont think that being catholic is being in a "cult" no the reason we pray to saint, angels mary is because they held a great part in God's plan for the world and we would like to acknowledge that.

Hey, that is like night and day...
I would take a Baptist any day of the week, and my Father was a Roman Catholic.
The Catholics can go out and get drunk, mess around with the Neighbor's daughter, then go to confession and say " I sinned" and be forgiven.. Shittttttt
Course, they can only do this 7 days a week.

I am originally Catholic, but attended Baptist masses with my fathers aunt as a child. The only thing I can remember different is that they sing more.( The Baptist). Other than that I don't know.

The Baptist are part of Zwingli's "Anabaptist movement" from which they take their name. Besides rejecting the authority of the Pope, they believe that a person must "accept God's forgiveness"
As such, it is only after a person has reached an age of accountability, that they may be baptized.
Catholics, (Episcopalians and Lutherans too ) believe that there is nothing a person can do to save himself, even in the "acceptance of forgiveness". God does it all. The emphasis in that God accepts us.
There are other differences to be sure, but I think this is the one that may mean the most to you.

catholics is more conservative,
baptist is more alternative.
catholics have thousand years of traditions and preserve them,
baptist throws away all the traditions and just worship God as direct and simple as possible.
catholics, not only have the bible, bu they also have many oher teachings from the saints and popes that people can look into for guidance. babtist solely relies on the bible.
catholics pray to God, Jesus (Trinity), Holy Spirit, Mary, and saints. Baptists pray to God and Jesus (Trinity), Holy Spirit.
catholics believe in purgatory, babptists don't.
