Ok first of all if you and your friend are close that's a no no. That'll cause more problems than anything, especially if she still has feelings for this guy. If you insist on talking to him i'll tell you the best approach; Just walk up and talk to him. Be real and not what you think he likes because you don't want him to like your ways, you want him to like you. Tell him that your interested in him and see if he wants to meet with you or go somewhere and have a little fun.

If you have never talked to him before, this might be quite difficult when trying to tell him you like him if they don't know you exist. In this case you can approach the situation directly or indirectly (or not at all). If you know a friend of this boy you like, maybe try to talk them; and get them to introduce you, or get them to help you tell them you like him. Well...I would talk to your friend first. There is a little rule that you dont date your friends exes..is she says its ok..THEN flirt with him so he at least has it in his head that you might be interested, then try casually asking if he wants to hangout just the two of you...and if he wants to, thats a good sign and when you guys are by yourselves, bring it up that you like him...just dont be all up on him, you dont want to scare him away....good luck!!!

Just do it. walk up, she all shy and coy and say something like 'i have a secret'...and get him to go some place out of the way and just tell him. Or you can play it all cool and just drop the line 'gosh I like you' or such when his guard is down.
