I have been donating my hair since I was 6 (I am now 18) because that was when my mom got cancer and lost her hair. I grow my hair out and cut about a foot off of it every 1.5 to 2 years (thats how long it takes to grow healthily) and have done so 5 times thus far and soon will be cutting it a 6th time. If anyone is considering doing this, make sure that your hair is not dyed as they usually don't accept hair that is chemically treated in that way.

Yes, I have donated my hair to Locks of Love. I've donated 4 times since 2001 and I've never regretted it. Unlike most of the cancer patients, my hair will grow back. I encourage women and men to donate, if they can. I'll probably be able to donate later this year. I just need a couple more inches. . . .

I donated my hair to locks of love once even as i turned right into a baby, yet later i stumbled on that an excellent style of the textile donors provide to make wigs is actual offered, not given to little ones and their households. i can't be donating to this actual employer back. Locks of love is a worthwhile employer not a charitable employer. I strongly motivate people to seem into its controversies and earnings document earlier donating. I shaved my head even as my mom become dealing with chemotherapy and reduce it back even as a classmate become clinically determined with leukemia. In my classmate's case, 6 classmates and that i did it for the time of a school assembly to teach help and amuse our ill pal. The hair wasn't donated or used to create wigs. It turned right into a gesture of sympathy and solidarity.

Going to get my long hair cut short next week, wanted to donate it , but I was told that since I have had "high lights" that they wouldn't take my hair...I know its hard to match to a persons own hair, but couldn't they make it a short wig for someone who had none in the first place?

Yes, I grow it out and donate it regularly. My hair grows very fast and is very thick and so they are able to make a few wigs from mine each time. I love being able to help serve others in the world.

Yes, I donated my hair a while ago. I donated about 11 inches, and once it grows out, I plan to do it again.

I haven't, but that's only cause my hair isn't the required length. I know it's better to have a required length, but what about people that can't grow their hair that certain length. I know it wouldn't be right to be allowed to only donate an inch of hair, but 6+ inches would be okay.
