Aren't these contradictions? I see Christians who wear fur coats that cost thousands of dollars, drive BMW's, Hummer's that destroy the earth at a rate that is totally irrational, live in houses with 3 or 4 car garages - how can someone be a Christian and live extravagantly?

This in my opinion, is not celebration of success - it is celebration and indulgance of excess - note the difference.

Dear Christians: there is a middle area between poverty and living in excess. Do you not know this? Do you not know that grey is a lovely, beautiful color?

Oh yes the rules don't apply to them you see. "do as i say, not as i do" is the motto of these hypocrites.
It's just one of the MANY reasons that I am happy I am an atheist.

Well, maybe it has something to do with them getting off their asses every morning to pull a 9 to 5. Perhaps they even passed over a little partying and vacationing to work a little extra, getting those promotions and finally saving enough to strike out on their own and open that business they've always dreamed of. Then having made it,through the grace of that God you blame, to some sort of financial peace they reward themselves with a few of the finer things in life seeing as it really doesn't matter what tree hugging, granola munching, non meat eating, red Marxist, who'd have us all living in an iron fist-ed,totalitarian,communist state,(which has failed everywhere it has been tried,by the way) have to say about it. God bless America, and let freedom ring!!! For we are still the country most people want to come to for the opportunity to acquire that in which you curse!

Christians are and should be blessed with prosperity. Just becuase they drive those cars and live in those houses is probably becuase they GIVE and they Tithe and so they are blessed with prosperity! Christians have every right to have luxarious things as long as they are giving and titheing. If they give extravagantly then they should live extravagantly and if you think that is extravagant you should read about the mansions and gold and pearls Christrians get once in heaven!

I am not a Christian but I know this from the Bible

""It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24).

How is it a sin to be a good steward of your money? If a person works hard, tithes, and has money left over to spend on themselves, whats the big deal? My having money isn't keeping ANYONE out of heaven.

Nowhere in the bible does it say that money is evil. The LOVE of money is. When you let money become your idol. that is not good. But to have control over your money, that is good.

Last of all, what the hell does it matter to you if someone has money or not. Nothing worse than being hassled for working my a$$ off.

You are truly amazing.

Preachers who get good enough to preach on television the least paid is a millionair some are billionairs.
and they ask little old widow ladies to give until it hurts.
If you are eating meat you can afford to send money.
But this same man was shown holding a birthday party for his son that cost 10,000. With a huge banquet.
Lived in a castle and had his own leare jet.

You HAVE to admit it could be part of their blessing.

I mean if they really REALLY serve god like slaves and all he might reward them to some point.

However this reward is sort of "payment in advance", if they would sell all the stuff and live poor their eternal reward would be much greater!

But since they decide to keep what they have gotten on earth, they will have a smaller car and a smaller home up in heaven...

You are right in a way. God wants us to live well and prosper in our lives on earth. He does not want us to be too proud or boastful. He does not want us to be selfish or miserly. If we were to lavish ourselves with overpriced cars, houses and jewelry, without considering others who struggle, suffer and die to survive where does that get us? Worshiping these things on earth which can rust and wither away are useless. You are correct in saying that it is a celebration of excess. They are also celebrating their heaven on earth, not for eternity.

These people are thanking God not themselves. You should be thankful and praising God for the many blessings that He has given. What has come to them may come to you if you don't have the green-eyed monster standing in the way. Think about it!
Read the bible sometimes. There are many examples of Godly rich believers who give honor to God and not success!

For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. In their own ways, all Christians are contradictory to their faith. This is an inevitability of sin. May ye keep you eyes on your own destiny, and not ponder of the sinfullness of others. Peace and love be with you through the Glory of my Father, which is in heaven, Amen.
