Do you (girls) actually think that Valentine's Day is about presents? Guys... do you actually think your significant other will love you more if you celebrate this "Holiday" by buying her things?
Just a general question.... curious as to who thinks Valentines day is really all its kicked up to be.... and dont get me wrong, I think its nice to have nice things given to you out of love once and a while ... but on a day where there is pressure and media telling you to do so?

It is not about presents.
It is about showing love.
But if you only show someone love on one random day in Feb. and no love anyother day of the year, are you really in love?
I think everyday should be Valentine's Day... just show people you love them everyday.

Ok, it's romantic, or supposed to be, and yes my husband and I do the candy thing, but we wait til those big chocolate hearts go on clearance for 4 bucks... but Valentines day is not a holiday really. It was created by the card people etc. to boost the sales. and from the looks of it, it's worked. It's now considered a holiday.
Truthfully, it's nice to be loved and showered with gifts throughout the year. Not just on Feb. 14th.

Personally, I'd rather receive a homemade card or poem or something unique, instead of the commercialized gifts and stuff. Question back: Are guys willing to take the time to do this instead of running to the flower shop, candy store or jewelry store to grab something quick? The retail business is counting on the answer to be no. The media uses it as filler between big headlines.

I think the people who sell candy & flowers really believe in it because it is a big income day. Itmeans only what people agree for it to mean. Myself and my bf do not celebrate it at all. which is fine with me. To other people it is important and they will feel disappointed if it is not recognized. Yes the media creates it. You choose how to respond.

nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Valentines Day celebrates the love and passion between two people. and who say it has to be girlfriend boyfriends type of love only? it can be siblings, parents other realitives and all of your friends. And besides girls (i am not only saying this cause I am a girl) dont just celebrate it for presents believe me! ok, sometimes we do excited about getting stuff but that isnt the only reason. its just a day when you dont want to have fights with a loved one. you just want to be thankful about your relationship to whoever it can be.

My boyfriend and I don't go overboard like some people do, but we usually go out to dinner and buy each other cards. It's not like I expect to get diamonds and flowers and there is never any pressure on my boyfriend for anything. It's just another reason for us to say I love you!

I don't go along with having to give gifts to prove you love someone. But it is a day set aside to remind us how special people are to us - and we should show them by a card, an act of kindness, a peck on the cheek
