It depends where you are from, a lot of countries are allowed a 90 day tourist visa, others 30 days... Canadians I hear are allowed 6 months.
Best to check online or ring your nearest travel agency, as im not sure where you are from.

If you are American then no you just need a passport and they let you get a 30 day visa for free. You can't work here or do anything else on that visa. If you are from Canada, Austrailia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe you get a 90 day visa.

If you're from U.S., you'll probably need to obtain a visa to visit S.K. for 1 month. But if you're staying only 30 days, you do not need to obtain a visa. If you don't have a visa and you want to extend your stay, you'll have to visit a local immigration office and pay something close to $100 and fill out few paper forms.

I'm moving to SK for two years, and in my research I have found that you DEFINITELY do NOT have to get a visa for a month. As long as you are a US Citizen, you can stay in Korea for 30 days.

Have fun!
