So far all I hear from Christians is cheap talk. If you really are trying to be like jesus in your everyday life, then follow his clear instruction and give to me as I have asked you.
And note: sending me contradictory quotes from bibles does nothing but emphasize the inconsistencies contained therein AND exposes you for the hypocrite you may be.
The best show of faith you can make here before the audience is to send money. If not, then your words of faith are worthless.

You're wasting your time. Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson and a handful of others beat you to the punch.

First off, if you aren't willing to hear the answer, don't ask the question. Arrogance does nothing but make people NOT want to give you anything. Second, context is eveything. Each verse must be read within the context of the passage, chapter and book that it is in. Ask any lawyer and he will tell you that context is crucial. Without it, anyone can be made to say anything, even if it is directly contrary to their intention. God wants everyone to be happy and content. He doesn't guarantee it for us all, but he surely wants it for us all. I believe that firmly. But that does not in any way imply that God wants us to be lazy mooches. When Jesus is speaking in that passage of Scripture, He is telling us that when a person around us is in genuine need, we should give. One of the core tenets of Christianity is that we are blessed by God in what we have (possessions, talents, knowledge, family, etc) for the specific purpose of being a blessing to those around us. In other words, we are not to hoard what we are given, but instead we are to be willing to let it all go because it's not really ours in the first place. We are "blessed to be a blessing." So you are misinterpreting Scripture when you assume Christ is saying we should hand out cash to anyone anytime for any reason. We are, however, required to love everyone on earth and give to them lovingly to fulfill their true needs just as God does that to us.

Okay -- that's not at all what I got from that passage, but I'll say that Jesus also told the man at the well of Bethesda.... "Get up and take yourself to the waters edge!" Meaning - stop complaining and do something for yourself! Don't ask others to do it all for you.

So - can we assume that you'll be giving 10% of this back to the local church as the bible also commands?

One time I was talking about Jesus to someone when I still had several things to learn as many Christians do and happened to mention this passage. The guy asked me for something like $500 and I offered it to him. He then said no, but was surprised I would actually do this.

Yet with time I have come to understand the following facts:

Jesus should actually be called Joshua (better translation to English - exact same name as the Joshua in the OT, but many people don't want an ordinary name for their man-god).

He was a rabbi and taught his Jewish disciples (having them meant he was a rabbi) - which he was doing in the Sermon on the Mount. He was speaking only to them and other Jews who overheard him. This was oral Torah from him to them, which along with the wriiten Torah comprised the teachings they were to follow.

So now the question is - what does this mean to us in 2006? I say if you are a Gentile it is something to learn from, but was not given to us until someone placed such teachings in a book called the Christian Bible and preachers took this out of its context of Judaism and interpreted this as a command to us.

I agree with you though - anyone who does believe they were given to us should give you anything you ask of them. There are some circumstances when a person clearly is not in need but would do this just to get the money or something - but in most cases I think this was meant literally, and people not doing so have to come up with some poor excuse for that. Never underestimate the Christian's ability to not do what "Jesus" said and find some excuse why and to still at the same time think they are following his teachings. The real reason many of them don't want to is (as I mentioned) it really was not given to them and can at times be impractical - so regardless of what the book says, their common sense says no.

"Jesus" said he was not sent to the Gentiles, but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Paul called himself an apostle to the Gentiles. He had a mixed bag of people to address - Jews and Gentiles - with different concerns. Acts chapter 15 deals with this issue, but even then many things remain unclear to me. This is a reason why there are so many apparent contradictions in Paul's letters (to different audiences) - but one thing not included in them is anything "Jesus" specifically said. So though it may seem I am doing what I accuse some others of above, I have come to believe there are 2 gospels.

Jesus said if you are ask to go a mile go two. this was referring to Christians. Who know Gods children's food baskets are never bare. and any other need you have should not destroy the finances of another, it is Clear you want to ridicule, the idea of giving to the poor Saints. Are you a Saint?

In regards to money, he also said "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's" so since the money isn't yours, you don't get it. It's not being hypocritical, it is called being wise with your money. And I certainly do not feel giving my money to you is the best use for it. I can give my money to an organization that will actually do good, like Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, etc.

He also said to avoid fools. Gee, looks like that would be you. Get a job and be a man. If you hate Jesus and Christianity so much, why is it that you are here asking questions? Seems to me Jesus is tugging at your heart!

Biblical teaching promotes good stewardship of what we have been given and so I tithe my income.
Jesus also said," I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves".
So I should be careful to give my tithe to the deserving cases and not to the 'wolf'. Which are you, deserving or a wolf?
I challenge you to make your case - or are you going to prove that it is you who are the hypocrite?
