I remember when it was decided to give out clean needles to drug addicts to cut down on the number of AIDS --- does anyone know how that idea is working? --- I do know there are about 40,000 new AIDS cases each year ---- are the new AIDS cases that are reported from drug users?

I know there are still programs out there for clean needles. The programs are called "Works." This is where users can come and get new paraphenalia as a prescription and take it home (or whereever home may be) to use their drugs.

As far as new cases with users, of course. Not all users take advantage of these programs. Some do not know about them, while others don't have the means to get to the locations. Others, simply do not think it will happen to them.

Unfortunately, the puritans in political power give little sanction to these humane solutions.
