When asked how many brothers and sisters and I have, I always seperate them, saying 4 step brothers and 2 blood brothers. Our families were combined about 5 yrs ago and I am no where near as close to my step family as I am my blood. I can't help but want to say it this way even though we all get along. Should I work on this? or stick to what just comes out?

Well, if you say you have 6 brothers you'll get "OMG! So many kids! Blah, blah blah!" and then have to explain the whole thing. I think it's OK. It implies you like your stepfamily, a lot of people don't.

I say do what you feel comfortable with. I have 2 brothers (that like me were adopted but we are not blood...) 5 step sisters and 1 step brother, and recently found out that I have 1 half blood brother. When people ask me I say ususally say,"I have 2 brothers 6 step siblings and a half brother." If people ask to explain further or look at me strange, I will expound for them. Very rarely will i say "I have 9 brothers and sisters." It just depends on the day.
So once again, 'stick to what just comes out...'

You should probably work on it. Try to get along with your step brothers. Find out what you might have in common. If all else fails. Try talking to your parents about it. In most cases they will understand.

Stick to what comes out.. Has your step siblings said anything to you about his hurting them? If so, then see if you can try to include them in just saying six brothers.. but it's up to you... I would say what feels comfortable

If it doesn't hurt your family in any way with you saying that then I wouldn't worry about it.

just stick to it, those are the facts and you aren't obligated to give the same consideration to people who would be nothing to you if other people hadnt gotten married.
