There is maybe a smell on the carpet in that spot that the cleaning didn't take care of. You can buy products that you spray in the spot where the animal is going that is suppose to make it stay away from that spot. I've also heard that you clean it with ammonia will help get the smell out.
Some cats are particular about their litter box. If you change the brand of litter, have another cat using the litter box or move it from one spot to another they sometimes won't use it. Also it should be cleaned often.

Cats are really picky. A lot of times they'll stop using the litter box if there is 1 turd in the box. You should make sure there's not any poop in the box whatsoever, and if she goes again on the carpet, put her nose to it, and spray her with a waterbottle. my cats get one look at a waterbottle and they run for the hills. Only use it when they are doing something they shouldn't though.

keep the litter box clean. cats will be picky about where they go potty. Also are you sure its the kitten and not the dog?

try cleaning the spot with something that does not smell like ammonia as urine does. I use white vinegar. supervision and a checkup by the veterinarian can help. the cat may have a urinary problem.

Some cats will only use a litter box once and wont again until its clean, what a pain huh. My cats dont do this but ive read online that some do. I sure hope you and kitty get it figured out soon :)

from experience, this may sound mean but when you catch her doing it or right after words, put her nose up to it, sternly say no, and put her in the little box, my cat did the same thing, after 2 times of doing this, she never went any were except the litter box.

try cleaning your litter box or use a different kind of litter or put your litter box over the spots it poops on.
