Taking the morning after pill is not the same as an abortion - even if you think life begins at the moment of conception. The chance that an egg was fertilized before you took the pill is extremely small. In most cases, sperm wait in the fallopian tubes for an egg to be released - unless your egg had just been released, it would not have been fertilized by incoming sperm. If an egg was fertilized, but not in the prime zone for fertilization, it would not have implanted in your uterus anyway. The conditions need to be just right for an egg to both be fertilized and implant. The morning after pill would only make a difference in this tiny window of opportunity. Even if the egg was fertilized and stopped from implanting, it's only a group of cells for a few days. It does not start growing a brain or any bodily parts for at least a week.
Think of it this way - there are plenty of times that your body tells the egg/sperm that it's not a good time to have a baby due to stress or other factors. Why shouldn't it be okay for you to tell your body it's not a good time?

It is an abortion.
If an egg has been fertilized and you take the pill, the pill will work to prevent the eg from implanting in your uterine wall. If this happens, an abortion WILL occur because the egg has been fertilized.
The fertilization of an egg can occur as early as 15 minutes after intercourse. The fertilized egg can contains all 46 human chromosomes.
If the morning after pill is taken after the egg is fertilized, the egg may not be able to implant becasue of the effects that the hormones in the pill haveon your uterine wall. If these are the circumstances unside your body when you take the pill, then yes....it is a very early abortifacient drug.
and don;t forget the side effects of this drug.

No its not the same, all it does is PREVENT pregnancy, there is an abortion pill but its called an abortion pill, not the morning after pill. It prolongs ovulation, or it irritates your uterus so a fertalized egg cant stick to the side of your uterus, which then it would be a pregnancy. And planned parenthood told me that u can take the pill up to 120 hours (5 days) after an incident, but its more effective 72 hours after. And I'm not as religous as I should be, but I did learn that your not supposed to make promises to God, I dont remember why, so I dont do it. But u aint no murderer, I wish people would quit saying that, its just like a big dose of birth control, and preventing is way different than terminating

the morning after pill is taken to prevent pregnancy in an emergency situation. so no, its isnt considered abortion because you arent aborting anything, your avoiding it.
and even though its called the morning after pill, you can take it up to 72 hours after the "incident" sperm can live inside a womans body for up to 3 days before they die, so you could have sex on a monday and not even get pregnant until Thursday....scary right?
look at it this way, the morning after pill is almost the same as a very strong dose of higly effective birthcontrol. yet it isnt needed everyday of a womans life. thats why it is used in emergencies only!
and who says your pregnant anyways??
if your so concerned about it you should talk to someone about being on birth control. or quit having sex until your ready to have ababay, and make that commitment. if you do chose to have sex, with boyfiend or husband, use protection.
and to everyone out there who says its a baby right when the egg and sperm meet....in a way its not, the egg has to grow..it has to actually become a zygote to become a baby. and it really isnt a baby unless the body accepts is and lets it stay there. it doesnt his by attaching the egg to the lining inside you. and does anyone really know when the sperm hits the egg? no you dont. so do you personally know if the egg and sperm attach to the lining? no you dont. so all in all, you wont even know on your next period weather your passing an unfertilized egg or a fertilized one. thats a question, if you have a period and pass a fertilized egg through your system, is that wreckless endangerment of a child? is it condidered wreckless endangerment when a man masturbates and ejaculates into a towel and throws it away? is that considered child abandonment? ponder that
take it from a woman who has spent years trying to figure out why she cant get pregnant.......

its a baby from the moment your egg and his sperm meet. Just remember Having a baby and keeping it isn't always the right thing to do either. A lot of nice people would love to have your baby and you wouldn't have to commit a sin against god. I'm not trying to be hard on you or anything but it sounds like you are against abortion and you wouldn't be asking the question if you wanted the baby so adoption is an option that might be right for you. I don't know where you live but around here there is a place called heartbeat and it helps you with hard choices like this. I would be happy to help you find such a place around your area if you tell me your location.

Everything has a beginning and an end and no one should be allowed to say at what point something is worth aborting or keeping around to see if anything comes of it. That should always be between you and your higher power. Abortion is a touchy subject and a very, very personal one as it should be. What I might be able to live with, you may not, what I consider something I could forgive myself for doing, you may never be able to. We all have to live with our choices and we should all have the right to make them, good or bad. "To God, a liar is as guilty as a murderer." The Bible. I won't put this into quotations because I don't remember the exact wording but it was written (something to the effect of,) " Sin is only sin unto a man if he believes it to be so." I have an aunt who is a born again Christian and she was one of those anti abortion radicals and one afternoon at a family party she was going on and on and on about how she picketed an abortion clinic and saved a girl from making a mistake and talked her into keep ing her baby. I shut her right up by saying... " Will you be there with her when she gets fruestrated and tired, will you be there with her to help her when her mom and dad throw her out and she has to do it on her own, will you be there helping her when she makes the mistake of shaking that baby to death because she was young and too inexperienced to know not to, will you pick up her life and her pieces if your happy little scenerio you have in your head doesn't go as planned, will you hold her hand when she has to give up a baby for adoption because she can't afford it? To each his own...and it should be for many more reasons than most people can count or ever take the time to bother counting while they are out saving the world from itself...

The morning after pill can be taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex. It kills off an egg that might have been waiting for sperm. It's more like a birth control pill though and not really an abortion. (Each religion is different so you can always ask your pastor or priest for future reference - but they might tell you should wait until marriage for sex).

Perhaps a better promise to God would have been to abstain from sex outside of marriage... But the morning after pill is NOT the same as abortion - it's emergency contraception... If you're Catholic - either way you're in BIG trouble with the man upstairs!!!

The morning after pill is basically the same thing as having an abortion. you're trying to kill off the egg before it can develop into a baby. If you can, wait to have sex until you're married or be very very careful if you have sex. I had sex before I got married and I got pregnant so please be careful and for your own safety, the FDA hasn't tested the morning pill long enough to know about side effects so don't take a pill that you know kills a baby off because you might not know what it will do to you.
