Our poop stinks. We have sex to reproduce. We kill to eat. Everything bad, wierd, or gross that animals do, we do too, so what is the difference, and what is bad about calling us animals?

It doesn't bother me, but my pets are traumatized by the thought. Take my parrot for instance, she thinks it's so gross humans kiss instead of regurgitating to show affection. All germs and no nourishment. And pooping in a toilet instead of 'bombs away' style. Toilets don't fertilize any thing or help a rain forest grow by moving seeds to other areas- at least as far as Polly is concerned.

Maybe we should learn a few things from the other animals, such as not destroying the environment we live in. It's one thing they tend not to do, but humans do. So which animals should be traumatized?

Scientifically there is nothing wrong with calling us animals, because it is a classification.

Figuratively, there is nothing wrong with calling humans animals, because, unfortunately, at one time or another, the description will fit. So maybe it's a little insulting, if not true.

Intellectually, we're just really smart animals.

Spiritually, you may have a problem, because there is a level of intelligence there, that animals are thought not to have.

What's wrong with being animals? Animals are awesome, I love animals. Plus, I'm sorry to say this but some animals are more decent than a lot of human beings I know.

Nothing bad at all. We have superior brains, of course, but other animals have other advantages. Strength, speed, endurance, what have you. Seems that superior intellect has turned out to be the advantage of advantages, though. We're the greatest of animals here on earth, but it doesn't make us some different form of life.

We ARE animals, the worst kind in fact. The only difference is that we have a certain type of awareness that lesser animals don't, and the ability to make conscious decisions.

I've gotten quite used to the idea, and it doesn't bother me.
Nor does thinking of humans as being totally made of matter. It just boggles my mind how matter can have consciousness.
There are still some mysteries in life :)
