There are churches that are exactly what you said, but there are also a lot of very good churches out there keep looking. Church is a way of keeping your spiritual battery charged.

I don't like going to church either, not because people judge, but because I don't think that is the ONLY way to do things. I have my opinions, and question everything, and that is what religion is based upon anyways, right? Just different interpretations of the same book or God and what it means to live, is what makes up so many different religions. So, have your own interpretations of it all. I was never the type to follow the crowd anyways. It's not wrong, but it's kind of hypocritical to judge those who you say are judging you...just be a good person and have your own beliefs and if that doesn't include going to church every sunday then that's fine. There's hundreds of other religons that say their way is the right way to do things, and they're all different! So, who are we to know what's truly the "right" way to do something. Just follow and do whatever's in your heart and feels right for you.

Nope - that's why I stopped going to church and am no longer a Christian. I just couldn't "follow" a religion who's followers do not practice as they preach. I found god on my own and the god that I have come to know is nothing like the god Christians have so much "faith" in - they seem to have no faith at all and take their lives for granted. Most of the Christians I know can't wait for Jesus to come back to earth and take them up to heaven.

Churches are really just glorified cults anyway. It's like a little club for people who don't want to be around people in other clubs. Churches separate us and give us more reason to get angry, frustrated and annoyed with each other. Organized religion will tear this world apart if you ask me. Organized religion and corrupt politics.

There is also this passage in the bible, not sure where, but basically it says that one should not belong to a sect and what is a sect, but a church? Even the bible is against church if you read it a certain way.

My advice - give up on church - you will not find god there. God is everywhere around you, in everything around and in everyone on this Earth: god is a part of us all, god is life, universe and everything. Have faith that god has a plan for you and will always provide for you what you need and you will be much happier.

:) I am.

No I am the same but lately I am thinking that I should be going to church for God and not care that all those idiots are there. Remember that it is your relationship with God that is most important, those people at church have no right to judge you. That said it is nice to have some good Christians to fellowship with. Shop around and see if you can find a church that is right for you. Until then keep talking to God about it.

You are beginning to see the church as it really is--just a routine that some people seem to need
Notice how fast the place empties after the service. Churches are for the church to make money.
Wake up some more and see the internet infidels web site and do some reading there. You too can be freed from religious mind control.

I don't think it is wrong at all. I don't think this is the case with every church however. Plenty of churches are hypocritical but not all of them. I think as Christians it is important to fellowship with other believers and this is done through church. I can understand how difficult it can be to find a good church however. I think you should just keep up the search because I believe you will find a church that presents a good example of Christ's love for all people.

You will find that in alot of church keep looking there are some churches out there who do strive to be christ like. In every church there will be some judgemental people and some hypocritical people but try to find one where they are the vast minority. Church is a place to get fellowship, support and guidance for people who have the same beliefs as you do. It is kind of like a way to make friends who love God. I know it can be hard to find a place where they really love the Lord and not the religion. Good Luck.

Churches are to sinners like hospitals are to sick people.

We're all sinners.

We're all lost without the grace and forgiveness of Christ.

We all belong in church at least once a week.

Who cares what anyone else thinks, if you're right with God?

And if you're not right with God, you have lots more to worry about than what any of your fellow Christians might think about you.

Unless you're a kid and still living at home, you don't need to fear anyone's judgment, other than God's.

In any case, it's tough to figure out how to live a Christian life without the help of a good faith community. You need to work through this problem if you're ever going to reach your true potential.

Pray about it.

Not at all. There many churches out there that are christian churches that do not hold true to the real truth of the Bible. I feel the same way you do. I have been a minister for over 25 years and every time that I go to find a church, there are many reasons why a faithful christian should not attend these churches. Many ministers preach "fatal" errors in their messages that are either heresy or less harmless but still false. Religious tradition has crept into the pulpit and fouled up the message of the Bible. Different periods of history have attached themselves to Biblical Doctrine that are good practices but they aren't scriptural. Anyway, you should be wary of churches.

Church is for you. That's why you go. You worship God in you rdaily living. You go to church for fellowship of believers of like faith. You go to church to strengthen your faith in God. You go to church to learn more about God. YOU GO TO CHURCH FOR YOU. In turn, others benefit from your presence and God see your dedication to service.

Haven't you just judged a whole building full of people as in the wrong?

Seriously though, I am Roman Catholic and I hang out with a lot of very fundamentalist and independent church goers. I know tons of them who are very accepting and loving of others. I also know that we all fall short of being perfect, we need each other to grow and learn to work out all the junk with.

Please join us. You can help add to the beauty and wisdom that God wants to give us through each other.

Be careful and check around before you pick a church, though, I would look for happy well adjusted people and ask them where they go.

Psalm 89:7 (NKJV)
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints,
And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV)
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, [25] not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

________

You are looking at church in a selfish manner. Church isn't about you.

Church is about worshipping the living God. Sure, there are sinful people there...you included. Get over it.

If you attend church for you .... then you aren't worshipping God at all.

Go there for God.
