I never did care for her. She never had her own personality; she always had to copy someone else. First she tried to be like Cyndi Lauper, then Groucho Marx, then Marilyn Monroe. Even in her personal life she tried to act like she was Eva Peron during/after she made the movie "Evita".

I think she is really just a big joke to everyone now. At one time she was just popular, mainly with men because she acted so cheap.

Hmm. Probably because she had a lot to do with shaping pop music, particularly music created by women. I can't stand her either, but she was very important to the way music evolved in the 80's and 90's, and pop music probably wouldn't be the same without her influence.

OK, besides the talent, besides her influence on popular music around the world...look at it like this.

This Italian tramp took a limited ability to sing and a maximum ability to screw and created an entire musical empire for herself, by herself. She went from being a lower middle class mattress pad to being one of the most desired, photographed, emulated women in the western world.

If for no other reason, you have to respect the bollocks on her.

i will state that there are songs of madonnas that i like. that doesn't mean i would"praise" her. i admire her tenacity to know what she wanted so young in life and then to go and get it. she worked hard and did whatever it took to get where she is now. anyone who works hard and is willing to roll with the punches to get to the top, no matter what their vocation, deserves to be acknowledged for that. all the better if it betters the world in some way.

Who ever said that she should be praised?

She didnt discover a cure for cancer. She didnt stop world hunger. She didnt even make me give a damn.

She shouldnt be praised, not at all. That would be like praising Britney Spears, could you imagine?

well, i don't praise her. But I do like her older music and I thought she did a good job in Evita. I do have to say that the phony accent gets on my nerves and not to be mean but why does she still have a gap in her teeth?

She is not someone to praise at all. She has a talent. I do not know the woman but from what I see that is the only talent she has. Good for her, but no reason to worship the woman for one talent. We all have at least one thing we excel in hopefully!!!!

First girl pop solo , rebelious type. She was the first to rebel against the norm of girl pop music. Or at least the first recognized.

Because
Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home
When you call my name its like a little prayer
Im down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know Ill take you there
