The problem with this question is that God doesn't exist.

Every great person has had to endure some type of hardship. The spiritual growth or decline depends on how you deal with those difficult times. The main thing to remember is that it is not always God that hits you with the difficult situations. Remember in the Book of Job, how the enemy had to ask God if he could test Job. It wasn't until God gave the clearance, that Job's tests begun. And the only requirement that God gave the enemy was that he could not kill Job. So while riding through your storms, remember who controls the winds. If the wind are tumultuous, then find safety in the eye of the storm, and you'll get there through your faith. Yet if you must ride the waves of the storm, then remember that on the other side of the storm, is a blessing that you will not have room enough to receive. Hold on, don't bale out!!

My church teaches that this life is a test, a learning experience- birth to death... a school if you will. But the lessons are a lot harder to learn, so the "studying" is also more difficult.

Without adversity, without opposition, without storms and hard times, we will not grow where God needs us to grow to be able to be the individuals He gave us the potential to be... We are works in progress here, and the storms are what shape us, change us.

Another analogy is one used in the bible- about clay in the potter's hands. As the original lump of clay, we are completely worthless, but we have SOOOO much potential. God beats us up- kneeding out the air bubbles and impurities, then He really moves things around and shapes us on the throwing wheel, sometimes taking us down completely and starting over, again and again, till He (and we) has it right.... Then comes the BIG trial- the kiln! He puts is in a situation where we think we're going to die. We think we are going to be completely consumed by the fire.... Then we're complete- We have become what He knew we could be all along- a beautiful vase- a work of art. We are stronger and more beautiful than anything we could have imagined.

My asnwer to this question is that those hard times are needed us in order to grow and become stonger and better. Like the saying goes "What doesn't destroy you will ONLY make you STRONGER" and it's true. Take a personal experience for example, It might have been a tough time but you got through it and now if you were to be presented with that same situation again don't you think it would be even easier for you to face it head on and overcome it all?

God works all things together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. He uses the bad things that happen to bless us and others. The reason bad things happen is because God gave us all free agency he dose not force us to do anything. Recently a good friend of mine an great member of my Church who truly loved people no matter what was killed in a horrible accident at work. All of us asked why God allowed him to die when he was doing so much good.
i believe it was Gods time for him to die, yet I also question if the man who owned the piece of equipment Clarence was working on that day would have maintained it properly would he have died? I believe he would have.
I also see that God has already started to do good through Clarence death, people who left our Church angry and bitter came back, for the funeral and bridges started being mended. We all loved Clarence and are sad he is gone but we Praise God for the good Clarence did while he was with us and for the way God is using his life and death for good.

I think God is the reason people are here. But I believe life in general let's in the storms and sometimes, we help them in. We must learn to work through them and become stronger after. Pick up the pieces left and rebuild.

Oh Bill. Life is hard. God has/had nothing to do with it. Life is just hard, and then sometimes it's less hard, and sometimes it's easy, and then it gets hard again, and then REALLY hard, and then easy, and it changes because it's frigging RANDOM and all you can do is try your best to make your life as happy as possible while doing as little harm as possible. That's it. Don't expect reasons, or all you'll get is a nice, pat little quote from a book written by some dudes 1500 years ago who didn't know any better than YOU do.

He had nothing better to do. In other words he ( god) him self outlined what is good or bad and since both are perfection you shoud concider your storm is a gift from GOd. Could god make anything bad? So no matter how bad you feel its god who create that feeling specialy for us.
Therefore Christianity and stupidity are both infinity.

If God intervened in all our " hard times ", we would be mindless automatons without independence of will.
God is love and we, who are created in His image and likeness, are free to accept or to reject His love. Love cannot exist outside a context of freedom. God does not want our love to be a blind, instinctual drive, but a decision made in freedom.
God created us free to accept or reject His love. He also knew that the gift of free will would enable men like Hitler to rise to power ( thanks to the millions who allowed this to happen ); He also knew that the Cains of this world would kill the Abels, and that death squads would torture innocent children.
Even though God allows evil to happen does not mean that He approves of it. God hates evil in any form.
Christ's position was always to resist evil. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus broke the decisive hold of evil in this world, demonstrating that the power of goodness is stronger than evil. The resurrection of Jesus estasblished a spiritual renewal for all humanity.
So we see that God is very concerned with human evil; He has done everything He can do, even becoming human and suffering and dying for us, so that we might have the means to overcome evil. The only other way for God to get rid of evil would be to revoke His gift of free will or to intervene in human history, banishing the evil among us to hell for all eternity ( which will be exercised in the final judgement).
The truth is that we all have a role to play in the prevention of whatever happens to us while here on earth. Lets say that we built our cities in areas that are geologically unstable, we should not blame God for all the people killed by earthquakes.
God usually allows us to experience the natural and logical consequences of our lives on earth so that we might become more responsible. If God forewarned us about all our predicaments and difficulties, we would not be able to learn from them and do something to improve ourselves. We would cease to grow individually and socially.
We experience sickness because our mortal bodies are vulnerable to germs and toxins and not because God is punishing us. Sickness also, is from bad conduct, social injustice, and accidents, and just plain growing up.
All throught the ages, men and women have learned to persevered in love despite great hardships. Christ's redemption makes it possible for us to suffer in this same manner.

What do you mean for hard times? Removing excess from our lives, people from our presence?

It is a vivid reminder that nothing on this Earth is permanant and change is always happening. Accept that HE is the only constant that has been, is and is to be.

Apparently, he "tests" us, but if he "loves" us so much, why does he cause us pain? Most (sane) parents would never allow any harm to come to their children, so why should the "almighty god"? This just helps proves the point that there is no god.
