The makers of Dawn probably made that up for marketing purposes. Unless Dawn contains a different active ingredient, I don't know why it would be more effective than any other soap. I believe it is fairly effective at cleaning oil off animals, however...the same way it cleans oil and grease off your dishes. Flea shampoos are more effective though. I bathe my dog once a week in flea shampoo and he hasn't a single flea so far.

I read that the green Dawn dishwashing liquid will kill fleas. Frontline is not working for my Shih Tzu. Frontline is on her right now, and I am giving it enough time before I bath her in Dawn. I hope that it will not damage her skin because I am planning on leaving it on for ten (10) minutes to kill the fleas.

Dawn kills the adult fleas, but doesnt do a very good job killing the eggs, not to mention you literally have to let your dog soak in it for at least 10 minutes, which dries your dogs skin out and causes more problems. How old is your dog? Go get some frontline or revolution (revolution only if old enough to start treating for heartworms), but i wouldnt recommend doing this unless its an extreme situation. Anyways hope this helps.

I wash all of my dogs in Dawn dish soap. I can't say that is realy kills the fleas but it will kill the eegs. I have told alot of people in the past about this then latter they always come back saying how it really help there dog.

I have never seen that bother the dogs on making them itch. I groom a dog with very senitve skin and it doesn't bother him eather.

Also great for cleaning a very greasy dog!

Absolutely! I have been bathing my five dogs with Dawn for over two years and they have never had a flea and they are in and outside in a large woodsy yard throughout the day.

I wet them down, shampoo in the Dawn and then add white vinegar and shampoo this in and rinse very well. Also, remember to put a drop of alcohol in their ears after bathing to avoid ear infection. They love to be bathed, never scratch and I've never had a flea in my house......Good luck!

actually lemon dishwashing liquid does kill fleas. it's usually only used on dogs that are too young(under 6 weeks) because usually your pet needs to be at least 12 weeks before using flea collars and the other flea products. it works too but be careful use it only about once a week. it will cause your dogs skin to become dry and irritated as will any other products you bath your dogs in.

It may, but the poor dog is going to have major itching problems because the chemicals in Dawn dishwashing detergent will cause it.

yes. it does. any shampoo will kill fleas. fleas breath thru their skin. soap suffocates them if you leave it on long enough. the only thing u need to watch out for is dish soap will dry the dogs skin out very quickly then u have a complete new problem. dogs oil production is not like ours. they should only have a bath every 2 weeks at the most or u risk drying out their skin.

Dawn dishwashing detergent is not good for dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! use dog shampoo or frontline to kill the fleas

It might kill some of them but it's best to use a flea shampoo for dogs to kill the fleas and their eggs and also to prevent any irritation from the soap.
