Why do you believe what you believe?

Question

Do you know why you are believing what you believe? Try to be as concise as possible, for I know that thousands of books have been written defending all sorts of beliefs. Whoever can best defend their faith wins.

Your faith is one of the most important things you posess as a human, so you had better know why you have put it what you have put it in.

Some of you have answered the question. But for everyone else, I am not asking WHAT you believe, but WHY you believe it.

No good answers. No one really defended their faith in any practical ways. This question is going to vote.

You have asked a very hard smart question......
as for me I cannot win because my religion relies on only Faith and that is something you cant see but have to take for grabted.....I know though that when I tried to accept evolution I felt such a sense of hopelessness and despair on living to die? But when I asked Christ into my heart I felt such peace and fulfillness, you can;t question that. My religion is one where I am going to have to suffer for what I believe in and that is the true test, I believe my faith becuase I believe the bible and the bible passes the external, Internal, and bibliographic test which means is is 100% scientifically reliable, and I know that in my heart their is no other God no other reliogion that can compare with this, the reason why is becuse I have seena dn heard miracles kept out of the news because they are Gods doing, I believe my faith becuase I look around and I know that the trees the sky the birds and humans just can't have happened be accident.
And that one part inside you that causes you to quetion your belief is the part of Christ living innyou, don't ignore him believe and trust in him, live you lives of sin no longer,
This is my faith and one day you will all know he is Lord and christ,

I believe in the Bible and the God of the Bible .
I suppose mainly, first of all because I have not had an easy life, and when I opened the Bible I felt as though I could really relate to all the tragic stories of people and their lives,within the Bible.
But more importantly I did not chose to believe in this God, just because of my own imagination, he chose me to believe in him. Now if youve never experienced what I'm talking about, then youll never understand it. That's just the way it is and I can't or nobody else can help you to understand it.

Yes I know why I believe what I do. It is because I go to a very good bible teaching church, and for the last ten years, I have studied, in some depth, the bible. That is how I came to believe it is what it claims to be: by inspiration of God.

Therefore, I take God at His word, and have seen His word proven true over and over in my life, by personal experience of these things I have read.

In general we believe what we are exposed to in our culture. I have a belief that most religions have the same center and the only thing different is names we give to those we worship. I think we have more in common than there are differences. Peace.

I BELIEVE THAT IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH I BELIEVE THAT HE MADE MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE AND LIKENESS I BELIEVE THAT HE SENT HIS SON JESUS TO DIE ON THE CROSS AS RECOMPENSE FOR OUR SINS. I BELIEVE IN ALL THIS AND THE TEACHINGS AND WRITINGS IN THE BIBLE BECAUSE I HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. ONE TIME I WAS AT A BAR AND WHEN THE BAR CLOSED THERE WAS A SHOOTING I WAS ABOUT TO GET IN MY CAR AND I HAD THE DOOR OPEN I FELL DOWN ON THE DRIVES SIDE AS THE GUN SHOTS RANG OUT THERE WERE BULIT CASINGS ALL AROUND MY HEAD BUT NOT A HAIR ON MY HEAD WAS HARMED THAT WAS GOD PROTECTING ME AND THE PRAYER OF A MOTHER BEING ANSWERED MY MOM ALWAYS PRAYED THAT GOD WOULD COVER US WITH HIS BLOOD AND PROTECT US FROM ALL HURT HARM AND DANGER. I believe in Buddhism, in the concept of karma and what goes around comes around. You can see that one in this life just by looking at people around you. I belive in reincarnation because energy can't be created or destroyed, even Einstein knew that one, so it makes sense.
