I have a new construction house and was wondering how to run multirooms from one feed. I have a video/telephone module that has one input and four outputs for video. Once the signal comes out of the module what channel will the receiving tv's show the picture? I understand that it will only be whats showing on the sat.

You set the output on the dish reciever. Usually 3 or 4, whichever isn't a broadcast channel in your area. There is usually a switch near the coax out, but some are doing it in the setup screen.I am doing this with a directv PVR to 4 rooms. Picture is EXCELLENT, but there will not be stereo sound this way. Also, no HDTV if your into that. If the runs are long, you might need an amp for the signal. You didn't say if the module is powered? I just used a 4-way coax splitter. You don't have to get too fancy here, although I do wish I had run CAT6 to all the rooms. But there is wireless for that!

Your email isn't confirmed?

So in answer to your email, heck yes, i have 3 coax and a phone line in a box. And I also am not amping the signal, split 4 ways, all is fine.

Do this right. Set up a LAN or a central location where everything is going to run to. Get rid of the Telephone to Video interface. Run RG-6 Quad shield to all of the TV locations with one Cat5. Run 3 to main locations such as Theater, Masterbed, etc. This will allow for dual tuner input, as well as you can take the 3rd cable and use it to feed back to the LAN and distribute this as you like to the other rooms of the home. You can modulate it to any channel you like, or direct feed it to the TV's you desire.

You CANNOT split Satellite signal as it has voltage on it. It must be "multi-switched" but, with a LAN this is easily done. Run no less then 4 RG-5 Quad shield cables to the Satellite dish location.

I teach Home Entertainment and have been in custom audio video for 31 years, and have pre-wired too many homes to count.

This is current technology and allows for future changes easily. If you want to e-mail me I sell the pre-wire checklist so your home is done correctly. This is the time to fill the walls with wire.

Also run a flex tube from attic to crawl and to the LAN for future use.

Watch the runs carefully. If you parallel "hot" wires, you will pick up noise, and if you staple too tight, you will change the transmission characteristic of the wire.

Wish I could do it for you, have seen terrible pre-wires which plague the homeowners.

Good luck

only whats on the sat. The sat is the decoder and tuner, as you only have one, you only get one station at a time.
