We just started our son 2 weeks ago. He is now just 5 months yesterday. We were told to let him have the spoon in his mouth without food first so that he could get a feel for it. Then we slowly started him on the rice cereal. It's a little bit more runny then honey. It took a few days but then he got use to it. A lot comes out at first then what actually goes in. Your son may only eat a 1/2 tsp to start. It usually takes a few tries before they get it all down. Clues to look for is if he is ready are: He seems to want to be fed again shortly after he has been fed; He is watching you eat. Give it a try and if he doesn't seem ready then try again in a few weeks or so. All babies are different but he should start anywhere between 4 to 6 months I believe. Good luck.

My son had rice cereal at 2 months, three months I may have started to add peach baby food in his cereal.

3 months is way too early. Go by what you doctor says. I think I started my children on baby food at about 7 months. Really there is no rush. They grow up way too fast as it is. Enjoy every single second. And blah, blah, blah, you'll get all these people telling you to only introduce veggies first but your child will have his/her own individual taste. You'll start with just plain cereal and slowly introduce different flavors and before long you'll know what they like.

Kinda early in my opinion but this is up to the development of your child. There is no "normal" you will soon find out. What does your pediatrician say? I would guess 8-12 months for jarred food... a tad earlier for cererals.

Never, didn't give my kids any kind of prepared baby food.
They just started to eat food (off my plate or gummed it in high chair) when they were ready. I don't think baby food is a good idea.
