ive used peter pan as a comparison to god and the bible for a long time, usually in a 1 on 1 or me vs an entire chatroom debate. now im asking yahoo answers.

you christians seem to enjoy claiming that the bible is evidene of gods existence. i, in response, would like to announe that the book "Peter Pan" is evidence of peter pans existence. if i am wrong in some way please respond HOW i am wrong. and remember, if i am wrong in any way then logically you, the christian who claims that the bible is evidence for gods existence, are also wrong.

both claims are equal.
both claims claim that a books existence proves the characters within the book are real.

prove me wrong and you prove yourself wrong.

your move.

Tell ya what. You follow Peter Pan. Get some Pixie Dust, second star to the left, and straight on till morning. If you do it right, you'll reach Never Never land, and stay young forever. Watch out for Captain Hook, though. I hear he's a real bad you-know-what.

Me, I'll follow Jesus. The way is a bit rougher, and includes dealing with mockers, but that's OK. When I've climbed the final hill, I will reach Heaven, where I will have eternal life in God's Kingdom.

Since when was the Petet Pan story puported to be more than just a story? Who, over long history and extensive scrutiny has made the Peter Pan story a revelation of truth?

Then there is this incredible leap of logic, how can you claim that people refuting your argument are of course naturally wrong themselves?

I used to hear this nonsense on playgrounds when I was a child, "You are what you say I am because you are" and lines of such ilk. WooHoo, my move? I'm moving on to a real question.

James Barrie never claimed Peter Pan was real. Moses and the other writers of the Bible did. But how do you know Peter Pan doesn't exist?

If this were philosophy class you be riding a slippery slope. There is evidence that goes along with MANY things that occurred in the bible. Where is the evidence that goes along with anything that happened in Peter Pan? Even so, if someone found some Pixy dust and started to fly and everyone saw it on FOX 5 news, then DUH! Why wouldn't I believe? Now, you can breath each day and you can find pieces to Noah's arc and all kinda other evidence, then why don't you believe? Stubborn!

Both are literature and metaphor - nothing more, nothing less. People don't seem to have a problem separating metaphor from reality in the case of peter pan, but somehow they can't tell the difference when it comes to their religion.

If you wish to compare real life to fictional.
If you wish to compare one person's brilliant work of literature to many, many kings, priests, and successful men's brilliant work of literature.
If you wish to find truth to what is written about a child or a successful man, who changed the world they touched.
Then I agree a book is a book.
A wise man is wise.
A fool is a fool.
DEBATE OVER!
