I tend to be shy, which may be read as insecure. I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and couldnt find the guts to go over and take the risk of being rejected. What do I say as an opening line besides hi?

Don't look at it as "Oh, I have to impress this guy": look at it as just trying to start a conversation with him. Casual, like as in a friend. After all, you need to get to know the guy before you go on a date with him right? So ask something like...
"Hey! What are you reading there?"
"Have I seen you around here before?"
"Do you happen to know a good book in (name genre here)"
"Do you come here often?"
"Sorry, were you looking at me?"
You know...just stupid excuses to talk really. Make sure its something you're comfortable talking about though, otherwise it'll just be awkward for the both of you. You want to be natural, like you were talking with a friend or someone you just met (normal, not guy you think is cute and are shy about). Above all, just have fun with it. :) Guys are no different than any other people. We like to talk and have a good time, even with complete strangers. Give it a shot, you'll be surprised at how easy it might just turn out to be.

if you want to be flirty with a guy, the littlest things mean the most, like a little touch on the arm and a laugh. And a smile, that really makes you look confident, and it's cute too :)

Just be yourself....whether it is just going over and saying hi, or accidentally bumping into the guy you want to talk too. You never know, the guy you have your eye on may have his eye on you as well. What have you to losse? nothing at all...Just go for it. and good luck!

Ask about something interesting.. Ask what he's into reading or maybe he could suggest a few good authors over coffee..It's weird I know but most people like it when you ask their opinion..
